No, certainly not a surprise or shock, it was on the cards.

Wolves were once such a strong club with players like Billy Wright, Derek Dougan and Ron Flowers in their ranks. Their glory days are long gone it would seem.

Seems fair. Considering he's had two league jobs and two relegations I'd say Mr Saunders is unlikely to be top of many managerial wish-lists for a while.

Dean Saunders is a fragile soul (a little ITK history I happen to know about) so I hope this sacking doesn't completely ruin him. He'd be better off with a team somewhere in the depths of the FL or even a semi-pro/amateur side.

A casualty of the times. He was given such a difficult job to do. The sacking of McCarthy was Wolves main downfall.

Not a shock but clubs really have to stop looking for the quick fix, he had 20 games in charge, although he probably should never had been chosen in the first place. How many managers get sacked without even a full season in charge now?

Exactly, similar to Blackburn they seem to be a complete basket case thesedays. When does the managerial merry-go-round stop for these clubs?

Fucking sad. The guy is charge at Wolves needs to take a good long hard look in the mirror before deciding who the next man to leave should be. That club has lurched from disaster to disaster ever since they sacked Mick and the fans deserve better.

It does seem bizarre that chairmen seem to think that change can happen so quickly. It's as if they are waiting for managers to find the 'magic formation' like you used to be able to do on old Championship Manager that just suddenly made the team start winning regardless of which players you were using.

I think unless a manager literally takes you from a decent position to a terrible one (like Ramos did for us) then it's harsh to be sacked after less than a season.

It says on the BBC website that there have been 52 managerial departures since August 2012.

That really is ridiculous.

read somewhere that average tenure of a Football manager in England is 8 months, in Spain it's even less

20 pts from 20 games. Might as well have just stuck with Solbakken. As A&C says though, getting rid of Mick was the real clanger. He'd have had them back up at the first try, imo.

also good to see terry connor doing well being reunited with mccarthy at ipswich. was quite touching to see him absolutely devastated and in tears after that relegation last season after so many seasons with the club.

20 games does seem harsh, but Saunders seems like a fucking terrible football manager so the mistake was hiring him in the first place.

You know what I am Mick fan, I have family in wolves and would go alot to watch them and they werent like your typical stoke, go in hard and lump it forward except for Henry of course. They played some brilliant football at times and had signed some good technical players from the championship, had they still had him as manager they would still be in the prem for another season imo but as soon he got sacked they were no longer a team and ultimately a bunch of technically gifted championship players.

The club is being run like a joke they built the new stand and were going to expand even more if they had stayed in the PL but since they been relegated they couldnt built, now the double relegation has happened they have a big stadium for a league 1 crowds

And chances are the ticket prices won't drop much either.

my cousins were saying they wasnt much change in price (I think £30 when they were asking for renewals though this was before they were mathematically down. Newcastle also apparently have a price freeze on season tickets and this wont change if they go down

Quite. Used to love the McCarthy post-mortems on MOTD. Hard-bitten doesn't come close.

Don't understand why the idiot Morgan thinks replacing managers - with the resultant loss of continuity - is such a good idea. To replace pretty decent managers with mediocre ones is surely pushing his luck.

I feel for the fans. What a horrorshow.
