Great news for Hudd, devastating when he didn't get in last time, was really on form, looks a class act and could really show some world class players up on the world stage.

We didn't qualify so it's good that he's trying new players out in the best opportunity England have had since 1994.

Any chance of Hudd being played at the back against T&T, would be interesting to see how he could dictate play from the back against a shit team.

Interesting but ultimately pointless aswell. He'll never be able to play there for us so it won't benefit us at all.

Interestingly I suspect he may look better for England than for us because he may get more space on the international stage. In the premiership he can't cope when people put any pressure on him.

I hope he does well if he plays but I don't think he's good enough for Spurs.

Good stuff for the Hudd, hopefully this will motivate him to get to the next level.

Capello is going to be the biggest waste of money since Darren Bents signing for Spurs. The very fact that he has JJ and The Hud shows this. They were rubbish today!

very surprised about Hudd in and Carrick not even there, altho i do think Hudd suits the International game with his passing and time on the ball, I still think Carrick could be a lot better in midfield for England than Lampard/Barry/Gerrard... I wouldn't drop Gerrard for Carrick (plus they'd complement each other well), but overall, he's rubbish for England.. Good luck for Hudd tho, and JJ certainly seems to have caught the big Italians eye.

Hudd in England call-up

Tom Huddlestone has been named in Fabio Capello's 30-man England squad for the up-coming friendlies with USA and Trinidad & Tobago.
It is the 21-year-old midfielder's first call-up at senior international level having featured 25 times for the national Under-21 side since February 2005.
He is joined in the squad by defender Jonathan Woodgate, who has six caps, and midfielder Jermaine Jenas, who will be hoping for his 19th England appearance.
The side take on the Americans at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday May 28 before travelling to the Caribbean to face Trinidad & Tobago four days later.

I'm really not sure about Capello, in the couple of games he's been in charge for we've looked as ordinary as when sven and McClaren were in charge and also the players look completely clueless in the system capello has adopted. mainly because rooney sturggles to play up front on his own.

Am surprised that hudd is in the squad. althoughi remember when ledley was drafted in for the previous euro championship he grew as a player so hopefully hudd will improve being with better players even though we are playing against 2 shit teams

It's something I've never understood. Watching them take the title today Carrick was immense defensively whilst Scholes ran around like some ginger nutcase missing tackles endlessly.
totaly agree, Carrick would be one of the first names down in my squad.

He has been fantastic towards the end of the season. Didn't realy see much of him at the start...

s Lescot injured as well? Jagielka gets a call up, but Lescot who has also had a good season isn't seen this time?

Yeah Lescott is injured.

Regarding Carrick/Hudd, I guess the friendly is exactly for that, to see unknown quantities. Also, Carrick's played a lot this season and deserves his holiday.

Good to see a sensible post here. Capello knows what Carrick can do. Not sure it's a rest as such as many of the usual Man U/Chelsea suspects are around and are surely as deserving. Just that he wants to try some players and has to leave a couple out but wants the backbone of the team in every squad for continuity. Carrick hasn't made himself part of that backbone yet.

Back to the important bit - maybe wise old Capello sees something great in the Hudd and wants an opportunity to work with him/sound him out/asess on a 1-2-1 basis, regardless of whether he festures in the match

off topic i know but

with a tough preseason will we see an even more slimline hudd at the start of the season?

and would that improve his mobility even further?

JJ has been fine since he came back from injury (yesterday he picked up a minor injury) - so why wouldn't Capello pick him? he did ok last time out - scored our first goal under Capello?
