how many records does vd sar need to break before he get's some regocnition?

so far he has won
league titles (6)
league cups (4)
league supercups (5)
uefa champions league (2)
uefa cup
uefa supercup
intercontinental cup
fifa club world cup

and he was no bystander either, he single-handedly, no pun intended, won finals for his teams after penalties and may i add broke records at ajax as well as man utd.

VdS should defo be up there with Buffon, Casillas and Cech. Great bit of business from Fergie getting him for something like £2mill from Fulham. Yes he has a great defence in front of him but that can be said for the other keepers, although Casillas has played with some shocking defences during his time at Real. The only reason VdS left Juve was coz they splashed out on Buffon, who for me, is the best.

I can't believe VDS was at Fulham for 4 years 'winding down' his career, a few years later and he's won the PL twice, Champions League again and world championship

what a wasted 4 years

And to think in those 4 years he was at Fulham, the amount of shit that was between the sticks at OT after Schmeichel left.

For me world class really means could play for any (top) club in the world.

Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Ronaldo, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Vad Der Sar, Fabregas, Czech, Carvalho, Drogba, Torres, Mascherano,

I think the next closest almost world class are:

Robinho, Modric, Gomes, KIng (when fit), Nasri, Arshavin.

He has very little to do at United, because he's superbly protected. Swap him for Gomes, and you might be a good deal less enthusiastic.

Van Der Sar really isn't very good any more. As has been mentioned he has very little to do due to having a fantastic defence in front of him, and what he does have to do, he does competently at best. He rarely makes a save out of the ordinary and does occasionally make errors.

There are plenty of unquantifiables that he might score highly, for example the way he organises the defence, but in terms of viewable, tangible performances, he isn't that great. Given is the best keeper in the Premiership for me, followed by Reina.
