Anyone else worried about the start of the season?

Most of the players involved in the WC won't be ready.
Tripper possibly injured?
Kane either injured or exhausted or both

Trying not to be too pessimistic but I have my doubts about some of our 'second string' players. We might not see a full strength or near full strength team until late August/ September.
It won’t be until September, England players won’t be released until Monday or Tuesday and they’re going to need a few weeks downtime. I suspect the first time anyone will see Kane, Dele, Trippier, Verts, Lloris, Dembele (hopefully) or Toby (probably not) will be against Girona

Aye, quite a few players won't be ready.

I might be wrong on this but I believe the kind of stuff they do in preseason is totally different from what they do during the season training wise. I think it’s much more about building the core strength and then that’s like a base for match fitness to go on. So I’m not sure if people saying they are match fit they won’t need to do pre season holds any relevance. Likely it’s less than someone who’s been off for 6 weeks. But I still reckon they need at least 10 days -2 weeks and the 9 will only return on about the 7th.

Well it has effected most the top teams even if we might of had the most involved late on. Let’s hope that Southgate and Martinez doesn’t go stupid on Saturday

Hard to judge how they view 3rd place match. As a player after all the work and effort I’d still like to come home with some sort of medal.

Rest and fitness are a concern, yes. Five of the first seven games away from home is a worry too. Stack that up against an England team which finished with all five of our players on the field last night, a successful (or at least very enjoyable and encouraging) tournament) and what this WC has done for the profile and pride in the club and I'll take the possible downside.

After last night - very concerned about Trips, Dele and Kane. Dier and Rose should be fine.

Lloris in the sticks should be ok.

The 3 Belgians may become 1 by the first match. Reckon Verts will be ok.

The rest all been home a while so should be fine.

A slow start to the season is what we don't want. I hope we can sign some players that will help out whilst players get rested.

Luckily we’ve boosted the squad with some exciting new... oh

what about us supporters, I'm shattered:cry: think it means I'll have to give the "match day threads" a rest until I've fully recovered. Oh bollocks just remembered I avoid that thread anyway:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

NHL you have 2 line ups that can interchange during the match at anytime and as often as they want playing 3 periods of 20 mins. Football is 3 subs max for 90 minutes. Not comparible

Sorry, You don't know anything about Hockey most NHL teams play with 4 lines.
Most players average between 20-25 per game.
I played semi pro football and played ice Hockey, its a lot harder to play ice hockey that it is football because of the endurhance physicality of the game. Go you tube and look at a NHL play offs highlights.
Washington played 110 games to win the Stanley cup.

It’s a tad worrying.
We’ve still got options of course but our lack of activity in the market, means we’ll be relying on our squad players to step up, which hasn’t gone great in recent years.

The level of talent we’re being linked with suggests more squad players too. A poor start could fuck the league immediately

Hard not to be slightly worried...

Kane looked like he was carrying an injury for last two games but will inevitably play in play off for golden boot

Alli has looked injured most of the tournament

Trippier looked pretty fucked

(Be amazed if any of these started first game)

We have the most players from PL still there (9) so bound to be more who miss season start

Son missing start of season for Asia Games

First four games “away” then a brand new stadium effect

No new signings at all as yet with window closing in less than a month

It’s certainly not ideal

It will be interesting to see if the England and Belgium players come back feeling down about losing in the semis or encouraged by the fact that they are World Cup semi-finalists and few footballers ever get that far. The first month, before we get into the new WHL, could make or break our season. Right now I am concerned but I hope to be proved wrong. I am not too worried by the amount of games played as we go off around the world anyway playing games just for marketing purposes but on the reactions post WC

The core players could actually do with a rest, as there will be a long season ahead. I'd be tempted to leave Kane, Vertonghen, Alli and Trippier, plus maybe Dier and Eriksen out until the Manchester United game on the 27/8.

Do we have enough to get us through one or two games against Newcastle and Fulham?

Players who could play both include:

Vorm
Aurier
Sanchez
Davies
Winks
Wanyama
Sissoko :-(
Lamela
Lucas
KWP
Foyth
Rose
Grealish (if he arrives)
Plus new signings.

I'm worries about Kane the most. Looks exhausted and still not right following the injury.

I joked about it recently but I'd give Kane a whole month off, and get him back in training and ready for the first game in September. He'll miss 3 league games, but apart from United away I reckon we could get results without him. He doesn't look fit enough to be playing again in less than a month's time.

Problem is the usual stand in striker, Son, will be missing the 1st month of the season. There’s Llorente of course but I don’t have much confidence in him.

Take your point though - Kane could do with some time off.

I personally feel 4231 is a system England should look at it’s a more flexible way imo

I know a lot of you are worried but i think we'll be alright. Give the English and Belgian lads an easy ride for the next few weeks in training etc, let them get their heads back focused on domestic football. Give Kane perhaps the first few weeks off to get him fit (as i reckon he's still not 100%). As @coys200 said a few days ago, this experience of going far in a major tournament is good experience for those guys and i think this will show as the season progresses

I would imagine they will all get at least 2 weeks on the beach to try and recharge their batteries.
Good to see Trippier is ok.
Kane hasn’t looked the same since coming back early from ankle injury. He really needs a rest.
Dele hasn’t played for England like he does for us. Although he wasn’t at the level of 16/17 this season.
Rose needs to find his form. He was class 2 years ago.
