Unless the Beeb have another woman to come in I'm sure we will. She isn't there because she is the best person for the job, she's there because she is female.
No way. They'll call anyone with legitimate criticism sexist and Nazi. Welcome to 2018.
Having women commentate is important because it opens the door for other women, who may be more talented, to get these jobs in future.

It is not as if the current selection criteria has prioritised talent; it hasn’t. What we mostly get is nostalgic names who are barely coherent and who spout inanities. But what a great player he was !

In the end having only 50% of people eligible for a job where gender does not confer any advantage is not conducive to having the best talent available.

There you go - a good argument and nobody got called a nazi.

I'd imagine the Saudi job is much like the Chelsea job - do shit, get sacked, receive a massive payoff that'll set you for life.
Pretty much!

If they were serious they would coach the youth teams and have patience that they will come through, instead of going for a series of foreign coaches expected to create something from nothing in a few months. They've had Brazilians, Dutch, Spanish and Argie recently. Quick, which country is winning?! Let's appoint one of them.

She works for the bbc in a great job. I doubt she cares about your opinion. I doubt she wants your job.

Shame.

Get off the pedestal. I'm not slating her because she's a woman, she's a bad commentator, just like plenty of the male ones are.

“She’s still shit” wasn’t a response to any of the points I made. It was just an excuse to slag her off. No need to quote my post if that’s what you wanted to do.

Sad.

This is probably the most boring group. Uruguay do not look anything special in the two games so far. Most likely to face Spain in the next round, can't see Spain having much trouble.

I can't imagine how bad some of the matches are going to be when they move to 48 teams. The gulf in quality between teams in some of these matches is enormous.

This match hasn't been bad because of the gulf in quality.

Another horrible match, Uruguay boring team to watch especially when they have to take the game to teams.

Enjoy the next few weeks while it lasts then. This will likely be the last proper world cup that we ever see.

Saudi Arabia aren't serious, and nor can they be arsed with things like "proper training" and "patience".

Saudi Arabia aren't actually a bad team with the ball on the deck, they really like to pass the ball around neatly. Their problem is as soon as they get in the final third they seem to forget which sport they're playing.

You are talking about the co-commentator/pundit that sits along side the main commentator, and you'd be right. We are talking about the main commentator here though that narrates the game and she isn't very good.
