The booking really fucks me off - there was nothing intentional about it. His arm was behind his back, the ball was headed at it from a foot away and it wasn’t goalbound. Horrific call.

He misses the next game, too. Total injustice.

As most of you say, that's not a yellow card offence. Ridiculous decision when there's no intent from the player.

But it is a penalty.

Enjoyed this game so far. Tough call on the pen though, record number of pens in this years WC seems on.

Did Geiger bully you as a kid or something?
He’s the worst referee in football snd the worst ref in a league that is full of absolutely abysmal refs. He tries to make it all about himself. Notorious in the retirement league over here

I'm aware. I'm an American. I also think he's by far the best referee in MLS and probably the best referee in CONCACAF.

Shouldn't be a booking but should have been a pen IMO, I've said for ages that not all handballs that are not intentional shouldn't be ignored because they are taking advantage away from the attacking team especially when the ball is going to goal, that ball was hitting the target and was unfairly stopped by the defender's hand.

It definitely wasn’t a penalty - fucking hell. The ball was floating off harmlessly for a goalkick, why would he possibly handball it? It was a total accident that he totally couldn’t have avoided.

Dreadful officiating all round.

Craig Foster (ex Palace and Portsmouth; 29 caps) on Aussie TV says it was a really fortunate decision, the player jumped fairly, arm in a natural position and couldn't avoid it, and if it was against Australia their players would be really upset. He says the VAR has given them a very questionable decision.
