World Cup: Fifa president wants 48-team tournament

Ultimately it's not going to make a massive difference to the tournament, and I actually quite like the idea of more knockout games.

It's just going to make qualification about as pointless as it is for the Euros for most federations, and it will presumably make the first two weeks of the tournament pretty tedious as we just wait to see which 16 teams get eliminated after 2 games.

The negative is your country may only have 2 matches before your tournament is over. Sure, for some smaller nations like my own it could be two matches more than not qualifying at all, but it's hardly a festival of football.

Meeeeh. 48 teams is a bit much when there are teams that are not good enough to make it. Also, How the fuck you going to do the rest of the tournament? 32 teams in round 2 then go 8 groups of 4 or go H2H? Why not just add 8 more teams and have a play in game for the lowest seeds then go into group play?

It goes round each continent, it must be north(or south as well) americas turn to host it next. England lost out when russia won it, so have to wait for it come back round to europe's turn to hoast it again.
