You think it's a bad atmosphere these days, January 18 1975, Spurs. 1 Sheff Utd 3. Attendance 15,000

It was pouring with rain, the stadium was empty, I was standing in the old Paxton road end, the roof didn't cover the majority of the terracing on that end, and it was almost completely empty, just a few hundred fools standing right at the back with the little shelter that was available. 95% of the terrace was empty!

A few months later I was at the Chelsea home game and there were over 50,000 in the ground, a pitch invasion and massive fights on the pitch before the teams came out, we won 2-0, almost guaranteeing survival in the first division.

i was at both games, and was at the Park Lane for the Sheff Utd game, Pat made one of his amazing 1 handed diving saves, it was so good that they used it for the end shot on MotD, and there directly behind was little old 10yrs old me in my soaked through parker coat.

The Chelsea game we went to stand exactly where the trouble started, but my sister decided to try and get a better view in the enclosure, so avoided the trouble, and had the perfect view of Alfie Conn and Perrymans goals.

Losing 2-0 at home to Sunderland a few years back. Was during the 2 points from 8 games debacle. Watching Darren Bent after two years of Berbatov was like swapping a fillet steak for canned spam.

That was 2-1, Cisse scored the winner and we were truly crap. Hull at home that same season was awful.

Worst away day was Newcastle a few years back and we got beat 3-1, it was the game Berba refused to come on initially

Why are we re living the horror days ? The best solution is pretend those games never happened, and remember thrashing Chelsea last season, of under jol that great game at the lane.

I was on the shelf for the Chelsea game, as I remember it, the queues were so bad for the boys entrance we paid adult price just to avoid being locked out. I think it was 40p or similar.

1st place - 1987 cup final, 10 years of age, lost 3-2, Hoddles last game - I thought it was truly the end of the world!

2nd place - can't remember the year but we lost 2-0 to Newcastle in cup semi at Old Trafford. Really thought it was our year, but we were sh@!

3rd place - again FA cup semi final, lost to Arsenal at Old Trafford, Hoddles 1st game as coach, had to endure an 8 hour journey home after watching the worst player I have ever seen in a spurs shirt - Gary Doherty!

Too many I care to mention but a few recent ones spring to mind.

1. Lasagne gate game in 06. Them mugs laughing at us knowing we'd thrown away CL

2. FA cup semi Arsenal x 2, Everton, Pompey & Chelsea.

3. 6-1 away at Sheffield United in 93

4. Sevilla 2-2 at home. I was convinced we were going to win the UEFA cup that season. By the time I got into the ground we were already 2-0 down

v Woolwich. 1971. WHL. first division.
v Chelsea 1972. WHL. League Cup semi 2nd leg

Many more but the worst of all was the 1987 FA cup final.

A turning point in my life.

Liverpool away in the FA cup in the 80's. cold snowy sunday game.

Got stuck on a shitty train up north somewhere...missed most of the first half and we lost 1-0, and we had the scousers wanting to fight us throughout the whole game and at the end, they were coming at us from everywhere.......they wanted revenge after we battered them after the 82 league cup final at Wembley.

Nothing eclipses the league cup semi final defeat in 87.
It reversed both clubs positions.

I never seen us win. So next time i go up, i let everyone know in advance.

I only seen us play 3 times though. Saw us draw against middlesborough 0-0 on a freezing night in 2004. That was dire. My first match, and 18th birthday present. Next season i saw us play liverpool opening day of the season and drew 1-1, and last year i saw west ham , which to be fair felt like a win after being 2 down.

Joined a supporters group last year so hopefully will get to see us play a lot more. Looking forward to it. (live in cornwall so it ..yeah a bit of a mission)

But by far the worst i match i ever seen was Southampton Wolves when i was at uni. 0-0 And it was the most turgid abject soul destroying football i have ever seen.

Wasn't at the 7-0 loss at Liverpool 1978, but it ruined my 18th. WAS at the 0-4 loss to Wet Spam at WHL a few years later - my 21st. Hate it when we play on my birthday.

Chelsea at Wembley when we lost 5-1.. Or 6-1? Our fans left at 80 minutes. Joke.
I stayed to the end... that wasn't a good idea as I was stuck on Wembley way surrounded by Chelsea fans singing stupid songs that didn't even make sense... god I hate Chelsea
