Would 4-3-3 work?

I don't think the 4-4-3 would work like suggested, largely for reasons already stated. A 4-2-3-1 with Adebayor leading the line is the obvious switch, although I think a 4-4-2 diamond is something we're now more suited than most to.

Walker . Dawson . King . Bale

Sandro

Parker . . . Modric

VdV

Adebayor . . Defoe

But it would be brilliant if we could get away with it!

Bale wont be put at LB either

Why not? We played a similar narrow midfield at St.James' Park & Harry started Bale at left-back. He limped off after less than 10 minutes, but Harry made it clear in his post-match interview that he was looking forward to seeing Bale attacking from deep.

If we played such a narrow midfield again (and the likes of Sandro, Parker, Modric & van der Vaart make it likely we will at some point), it wouldn't surprise me if Harry again tries Bale at full-back.

For his own benefit Bale should play LB against certain teams, he gets marked out of games too easily.

I think Bale is never going to go back to left back now. The guy himself has said he sees his future playing further forward and possibly in a central role.

He's picked up bad habits playing at LW, he switches off, doesnt track back etc and this showed against Chelsea when he had to play there for 10 mins, twice he switched off and played people onside, one time this lead to them scoring the winning goal.

I can also never see him doing the 'dirty work' at left back in the PL, you have to do some defending at some point playing left back here and embrace the physical stuff. Bale lets face it, is a wimp. Look at Rose, small guy but puts himself about a lot and seems to relish the physical side of the game. Thats why he has done relatively well playing there.

EDIT: shit.... just realised turned this into the age old BAle LB vs LW debate... sorry!

I don't think that we could play 4-3-3 really because the wide players need to be sort of inside forward type players and neither of ours are.

4-2-3-1 is the way I would go as it plays to all of our strengths. A cm 3 of Parker, Sandro and Modric would be quite simply monstrous and if we played vdv and Bale wide with Ade up front we would also have a lot of creativity, flair and pace.

The biggest issue is what we do if any of those players gets injured................

If Bale does move abroad he'll most likely end up at LB.

Whatever happens with the 4-3-3, the wide men must attack the box and not hug the touchline otherwise it'll be a complete waste of time.
