hypothetical questions like this are pretty pointless, mainly because the two dont have to be mutually exclusive you can play good football and you can win the league and that should be the aim.
Be interested to see if most of those saying yes (would take winning the league with boring 1-0 type football) were also supportive of moving to Stratford .......I have a sneaking feeling they might be

Put yourself on a pedestal much?

If we win the league that it would be amazing, anyone who says differently is splitting hairs.

However, the way we are currently playing is less likely to see us win the league than if we played a more offensive, creative style, especially at home.

It's not that we are playing defensive football, going for the 1-0 and remaining very solid at the back. We look exposed on the counter a lot of the time and are really having a struggle to get a goal.

I remember watching the great AC Milan team of the early 90's, they would go and get an early goal, then happily contain the opposition. If they conceded an equaliser they would go straight up the other end, get a second, then hold the opposition at bay for the three points. We do not have anything near that kind of control over our matches.

it's a fairly simple formula for me: we can play stylish football or we can win. either way, i'm all up for it, and i'm not going to bitch much. if I could get both at the same time ... holy hell, i'd be euphoric. but the only thing that's going to keep me from 'being happy' with spurs is if we play unattractive stuff and still don't win.

under redknapp, I sometimes felt that the euphoric state described was potentially right around the corner. and if i'm honest, right now I feel an uneasy apprehension that the latter state could be closer than it should be. but we're still getting the results, and i'm solidly on board with AVB.

it should go without saying that winning enough to actually take the league and still being unhappy - regardless of style - is beyond the pale. to my mind, anyway.

AVB is a lot like Mourinho.

Very organised and effective but not that exciting

I'd love us to win a title in my lifetime. It's already been 50 years since we last won the title, I wouldn't be too fussy of how it came about. I think winning it in style would just be an added bonus

Deffo take the title , under almost any circumstances, been way too long. Methinks our play will improve as season progresses once our team starts to gel a bit bitter.....patience

i'd take winning the League, even with the football we are playing.

I watched a brand new team play Palace on Sky, and I wasn't bored

I was at the Lane v Swansea and their keeper stopped them being 2 or 3 down by half time

as many saw us play ok with the ball v Arscum, but struggled to break them down

saw highlights v Norwich, wasn't very bored.

Cardiff away their keeper played a blinder, wasn't bored just frustrated we never scored a few

home to Chelsea, 1st time we really had a team that attacked us, which meant for a good game

Wet Spam at home, only heard on radio, and sounded like we tried to attack, looked tired according to commentators, conceded a goal and after that struggled.

away to Villa on Sky, I did get frustrated with the passing at the back, but when the home team were sitting so deep, but had players that could hurt us with pace if we lost possession too easy. then its important to build the attack up slowly rather than go full guns blazing, concede like we did against Arscum, then leave ourselves open all the time.

the Hull game sounded bad, but attacking a team with 11 players in defence is never going to be too exciting. yes we got lucky with a lucky pen, but it takes 2 teams to help make exciting matches.

when we play the likes of Everton, Man C & Utd over the next month hopefully the games will be more open, and we will see a better style of football

Hopefully this only needs to be said one time.

If we somehow won the league under our current structure and you weren't happy about it, you are not, full stop, a Spurs supporter. This is the best team we've had since before most of the people on this board were born. This is the first time in my own memory that I feel as though the team will win before the majority of our matches. This is the first time I believe that the manager knows what he's doing, and that the squad can definitively take us forward. If you don't see that, you're out of your mind.

Does anyone actually believe AVB has the deliberate intention of going for 1-0 wins? I'm not sure there's a great deal of evidence for that because we certainly look like we're attempting to play attacking football, we just fail once we get far enough toward the goal. I personally believe that we are only getting marginal victories because that's all we can do.

If this is AVB's philosophy, then clearly it's not working out well because you obviously need to guarentee yourself at least one goal to be able to play that way and the way we're playing at the moment, there is certainly no guarentee of that.

But it raises an interesting question. If this IS actually his philosophy and it started to work out, who would be happy winning the Premiership if we'd done it on 1-0 wins?
Because I'm sure there are some who would be sad instead.

The good news is that there are, at time of typing, 21,352 threads on Spurs Chat.

So........only another 21,349 before you've managed to post the precise, same post in each of them. ;)
