No. As a Spurs 'brand' and a player he cant be replaced by 80m worth of squad players ,who are willing to play Europa League level football for middle tier wages.

Dick question.

Short answer to the OP is No.

£80m would do little for us as a club right now. We don't need lots of big name players, we need to build a squad akin to Southamptons but with some extra class. We can do that with a fairly tight budget and then players we have now plus a decent chunk of the new TV money for the odd £20m player every season or two.

We need to believe in Pochettinho, believe in the philosophy, believe in our development players, get behind them trust them that includes Townsend Carroll Pritchard etc.

We must also give them the correct contract and resist offers to sell them.

We've cashed in on all our big name players and have a worse team without improving our bank balance.

If we're continuously wasting all our money, how come we time after time has some of the most sought after players on the planet?

If, as suggested by the latest ITK, Lloris hasn't bucked for a move, but Levy willing to sell to Manure for a thick wad, i think he is not adverse to selling Kane if a fee north of 80 million is offered.

This is actually quite an interesting thread because it highlights our need to be better in the transfer market, with the players we bring in.

Obviously it hasn't all been doom and gloom on this front, but Paul Mitchell was evidently brought in because the management thought we could do better.

Currently I'd say don't sell Kane

But I'd love to see the day when we can sell a star-player for £80m and have a reasonable chance of bringing in 6 or 7 up and coming stars. Eventually we'd have a squad brimming with talent, so much so that it wouldn't matter that we sold our best player every year, because we'd have 3 or 4 waiting in the wings.

It would be impossible not to. One year and that kind of money?

However, considering the last time we brokered a deal of this magnitude.........it would be tantamount to giving him a free transfer.....so no under the current administration. :)

Plus he really is the only striker we've had since what......Big Chiv? :p But really the first real one in much too long

IMO. Put into perspective, how many would prefer, Martial 20mil
Kondogbia 25mil
Benteke 30mil
75mil
In place of Harry 80mil

I'd rather have Harry Kane. He embodies what most supporters love...ie he's one of our own Harry Kane... .He's oooo.

Kane is more than a striker - he is a match winner. We really can't afford to keep selling players of the likes of Bale and Kane. It is, I k now, a team game, but these players are (or were) catalysts, who send a surge through the team.

Agreed look at Sanchez for Arsenal or Hazard for Chelsea, you need to keep though's type of players.

Yes we need to think bigger than one player.

If we sell Kane we can hire 10,000 SAS soldiers and move into Europe. The French will surrender after a day then we can move into Belgium. They'll argue over whether we're infringeing on their human rights and forget to do anything so within 2 weeks we'll have 2 countries.

Then we can move into Holland and they'll hide in their attics.

Then we'll start to run out of money and we can start a thread on selling Lloris for £50m.

Then comes Luxembourg..............

80mil is a lot a' dosh. But we have to stop selling our best players if we want to progress. What will we do with the money? Doesn't matter how much we have to spend, top players (the kind to get us top 4) all want to play for a CL side. So we're going to by a handful of average/OK players. Alright, we could buy 3 quality £25mil players, but players in that price range, won't come to us. We'll be paying over the odds on average, because they know we've had a windfall.
That said, it is a gamble. Kanes had 3/4 of an outstanding season. What if he doesn't reproduce it again. Guaranty though, if he goes to united, he'll become world class. What to do?

I wouldn't accept 80 million it would need a world record to get him, this is all on the proviso that Kane wanted to leave.
In any case, I don't have confidence that we would spend the money properly.
