I wouldn't accept 80 million it would need a world record to get him, this is all on the proviso that Kane wanted to leave.
In any case, I don't have confidence that we would spend the money properly.

Every club makes mistakes in the transfer market, sure we have made out own fair share, but the fact we have a such a low net spend shows we work the transfer market very well?

I think it shows that the club is run well financially which no one I think will dispute not that we work the transfer market very well.

I'm not sure if this tweet made it on to SC yesterday but I thought it was funny and figured this would be a good spot for it.........

Seeing that today many outlets are saying that a bid of 50M is being seriously considered by UTD, this is a serious number and I don't want to lose HK but I can see us taking the money. I don't like it but everyone at our club and everyone has a price. Look at our recent history we are a selling club to huge bids and I think 50M is a huge bid for him.

I personally wouldn't as it'll take £50 million to replace him.

If he was to repeat the feat of scoring the same volume of goals next year or even better it, it might lead to CL qualification.

A successful team is worth more than an average team.

With a stadium on the way, sponsorship needing to be found, perhaps Levy sees players like Kane/Lloris as more than just money in the bank.

Kane is England's new poster boy and Lloris is France's captain - Euro 2016 is in France. These are major attractions to sponsors - news coverage with their name on.

Hopeful, perhaps, as history has shown that Spurs do sell (as do most clubs). But I feel Kane is different (Lloris maybe not). That spark he feels for Spurs may not be the same somewhere else (see P Neville, Nicky Butt, Robbie Fowler - all left their favourite team and not performed to the same levels..).

Also, I don't understand why some fans are so eager to sell the club's best players.

Yeah, I'd drive him there for 50 mil.... and do what with the money? buy more mercenaries who may not perform? why not just keep a player who IS performing and has an affinity for the club? Spurs need to buy smart and build a team, not sell at the first opportunity.

My issue with selling a player for £80M then trying to replace them immediately is that, all of a sudden any player you try to sign will cost you £80M or close to it.
Look how Liverpool got shafted after selling Torres.

@StartingPrice and @CowInAComa etc. have been great about this so well done to them first before I give my answer.

You're asking the question now, so you have to go on the presupposition that he wants to stay at Spurs for at least the remainder of his contract that he just signed (which I'm sure will be improved upon if he continues at this level and of course rises) and based on his multiple quotes that he wants to stay.

The question is would I sell him for £80M right now if I was running Spurs? Absolutely no way.

It would be absolutely dumb. Stupid. It would make very little, if any, business sense for the team or the club globally.

You finally have a huge rising star in the home nation who the fans all admire. This 21 year old striker has just broken multiple scoring records and single-handedly made the fans more happy and more excited to see him and support him. You look at the way he plays, his skillset, his physical attributes - he has shown that he has all a striker needs to continue to perform in the PL. Looking to his future value, it is a small risk that his value drops from where it is now (more likely 35-40m) and it is fairly likely that his value will rise up to the age of 24-25.

If you sell Harry Kane right now, the 21yo blossoming England superstar who came through your academy, you might as well sell the team the next day because there is nothing you could do to convince me or any of you Spurs fans that the club wants to continue to progress and actually find success on the pitch.

If at 25, 1) he and the other players and the club haven't progressed us forward into one or multiple CL qualifications (with higher table finishes) or Cup victories, which Levy has said are the markers of success the boardroom is looking for, and 2) he wants to leave, and 3) he hasn't regressed to less than a 10+ goal a season in the league striker, he could still be sold for no less than 50m, probably 55-60m by that time.

FWIW: I think he will maintain his level based on continued development, if not get even better, and with even adequate addressing of our problems with the construction of the squad, we will win a cup and/or qualify for CL within the next 2 seasons. And you can quote me on this as I'm staking my claim right now.

If you get £50m for him who do you get? Because We can't afford to pay a £50m player.

Harry is the new face of Tottenham, I really would be shocked if we sold him

We buggered up big style with Carroll but half the Torres money went on buying Suarez as well who we ended up getting a £50m profit on.

As a non-Spurs tinted view on this I cannot for the life of me see anyway Kane would choose to leave. I think he'd have to be dragged by his hair kicking and screaming there I just can't see it at all.

There is no way Kane will be interested in this move. The only thing for Spurs to be concerned with is that if Kane's agent is THAT type, he may use Utd's firm interest to go back to Levy and demand a much higher contract for Kane closer to what Utd would have offered him. However, this my not concern Spurs at all & they may be more than happy to give it him.

Must resist "Kane's kids are in a local school" joke.

No, some things are more important than money.
This kid epitomises the club, he sees his future with us and is one of our own.

Too right I would; if somebody was daft enough to pay that sort of money for a 1 season striker then I'd grab it with both hands, buy a replacement such as Benteke say for 25-27m, and spend the rest strengthening other positions that really need it, and there's certainly plenty.

Given the way we wasted the Bale money then certainly no. We need to show that we aren't going to keep selling any decent player we have. If we keep Kane in our side and continue to grow and get into the CL spots a few seasons then that is our 80 million made.

If Levy were to sell Kane this summer he should expect a little conversation like Samuel Jackson and the guy with the tasty burger - "say net again, I dare you"

The original poster didn't just say should we sell Kane (in which case I agree - no) but he said should we accept £80million for him? In which case you'd have to be retarded to say no IMO. Don't worry though cos it won't happen, even Man U aren't that mental.
