Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been given the all clear for their Wrexham takeover. Can’t see a thread in it so apologies if I’ve missed it.

For those unaware who the latter is, get yourself over to Netflix and binge watch Always Sunny now!

Definitely interesting purchase for the neutral. Success or not?

Wrexham is a pretty historic club, if not one of the giants of the game so good luck to them. I hope things work out for them better than a lot of the other clubs who’ve had American takeovers.

I was listening to one of the guys from the Wrexham Supporters Trust on TS the other day, and their fans were overwhelmingly in favour of this takeover. So if it doesn't work out they've only got themselves to blame.

This was the thread I originally made - just not an obvious title

Ah sorry, I had a quick look down and couldn’t see anything but in hindsight, yours was a perfect title!

There's a lot more to this than meets the eye IMO.

As mentioned in my thread, the rumour is that they are going to document running the club as either an on-going series or a film.

I believe the assumption is that they can powerhouse market it Stateside almost like an "American" team in England. That is, it's in the English league but isn't English enough to disassociate from being English, allowing a sense of 'ownership' for foreign fans that's not existed before with Fulham/Liverpool/Sunderland/Villa and so on.

All the need is a little nibble and interest and that's a lot of money coming in.

It's not like Wrexham are even a little club - one of the oldest around and, pre-Neville Dickens era, had an impressive infrastructure. Just a same the university built student flats in the car park. Wouldn't actually need loads of financial investment off-the-pitch until they got much higher up.

A bit of an odd buy from two Hollywood actors. I hope not that Charlie, Bird and Dennis are involved in the daily run of the club

Disney Plus have it. They were filming at the game. Think Mac said somewhere the idea to buy the club came from getting into Sunderland till I die and seeing the community of a football club. Mac seems obsessed with them at the moment, I can’t see them going away. Seem to have trouble getting wins so a play off win might be best ambition. I wouldn’t be concerned if I was a Wrexham fan though, they’re good guys who want the best for them.
