Alnwick can't take all the blame. A lot of the shots he couldn't do much more with. Our midfield and defence just completely shut down and Burnley over-ran us.

Its going to worry Capello to think Dawson and King can play that badly.

Im not a professional footballer but i have played competitive football i hated losing no matter how much importance a game had(or didnt have) and even though there was no chance of getting into third place, i find it hard to believe that any of them wouldn't care about losing a football match, surely personal pride alone stops you from doing that??

I agree but looking at the team that played (too many games in too many days) it was always a risk. I'm sure mentally it would have been quite hard to motivate them for this game even with the chance of third, but when that was practically impossible at half time I can sympathise.

It doesn't make it acceptable, and particularly for the fans who travelled, but it's been a great season and I'm sure most will still be smiling widely!

Thought we might be going on to score a shedload, but thier goal just before 1/2 time ended that. On any other day I would be soooo pi**ed off but who cares we've finished 4th anyway. Just glad that we sorted it out on Wed and didn't need to win going into this match because I had a horrible feeling about it. Whether we would have played like that if it mattered who knows ? sometimes when it starts to go wrong, you can't turn it around again. Hopefully with experience we'll not lose this type of fixture in the future.

Anyway season objective completed so..........

Apart from it being irrelevant the good thing is that those nice Man City fans will be even more pissed than before. There will be all these " 8 minutes from CL " posts on Blue Moon.

4000 spurs fans payed good money to travel & watch that!!

I'm sorry but there really is no fucking excuse for that performance....2-0 up at burnley & we dish out that for our loyal supporters?

Doesn't matter where we finished, we were unproffesional & the press will love it!!

Alnwick didn't exactly throw the ball in the net, our defence has to take a lot of the blame.

That said, I'd feel a lot happier if we can sign another keeper during the summer, but add another defender as well. And a striker.

It was a bunch of players who once they new the score and the Emirates took there foot completely of the peddle and played the game like a preseason friendly against a lower league team. While Burnley played there best football in months in the second half as they wanted to go out of the league on a high. Fair play to them. I have no doubt if Asr*al were losing at half time we would have seen a different second half performance.

Also it could have been down to there night out on Thursday night!

Too many crosses coming in was the big problem. Would Gomes have claimed more of them, who knows ?

Losses like that show that although we made the CL the mental strength of the squad is still weak. All three teams above us are there for a reason and they proved it again today, we still have a long way to go before we can even begin to be considered as a serious contender for a regular top 4 finish. That way begins with learning how to kill off teams like Burnley.

I killed myself, then the anger brought me back to life and im going to then kill myself again in order to punish the club for such an awful season.

I want my season back!!

why are you trying to trivialise this? Nobody is saying it affects our achievements this season, but it's still a disgraceful performance for the fans.

You cant trivialise somehting that is already trivial

It was a meaningless game, typical end of season fare against a team who would be desperate to give their fans something back after being relegated, i was expecting it. None of you guys paid to watch it, why get so worked up?

um... Glazer out?

Let's change the manager he clearly can't win at this poor northern clubs, first Sunderland and now this, Sam allardyce is the answer. Also our centre halves were shocking get rid of both them is what I say and get in some class like anton Ferdinand and matthew upson. When we've dealt with these I suggest the real problem, the chairman, after all he signed the manager so I say out with Daniel levy and in with someone competent like peter ridsdale.

In case people have forgotten we are 4th in the league.

Burnley had nothing to play for either, why were they able to pull a performance out of their arse and we weren't.

I don't like the idea of us just not bothering to turn up, it spits in the faces of fans.
