Going to get a lot of negs for this but if I had to pick between him or lamela coming off the bench to get a goal or create something I would prefer shaqiri.
assuming his attitude fits with our group he'd be a good option.
The concept of him not being of a certain level seems to me to underestimate his technical ability and also fail to appreciate how many good squads are built.
Leicester signed Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood, Mahrez was signed for 400k, Chelsea won the league with a converted attacker in Victor Moses at full back who had spent the previous season at West Ham. Ray Paulor was not at the same level as Dennis Bergkamp, Wes Brown or John O'Shea not the same level as Rio Ferdinand. Yet all these players played important roles in league winning squads. I could go on there are a ton of examples of unfancied players playing key roles in successful squads. Fabian Delph another example a player you would think not on the level of many in the Man City squad, played a vital role this season despite never being a marquee signing.
Equally there are a ton of examples where clubs sign 'high level' talent for 'high level' money only to receive a poor player. Football and squad building is a complex business with almost all squads being about blends from top level players down to squad players lucky punts and youth prospects.
On paper Shaqiri is exciting because we know he can perform to a high level in the Premier League, he fills a gap in our squad giving us a technical backup or alternative to Eriksen Alli, Son or Moura. He has European big club experience with Inter and is a key man in his national side. His 12m release clause makes him undervalued in the market. Even if his signing didn’t work out the potential to invest 12m and turn it into 20m within a year is there.
It makes sense for us to try and sign him, if it makes sense to him is another matter.

then if we did score, who would you prefer out of the 2 when we need to hold on and see the game out?Going to get a lot of negs for this but if I had to pick between him or lamela coming off the bench to get a goal or create something I would prefer shaqiri.
Exactly the point I was trying to make but you rate it wtf! . Maybe the free kick commentAll I see is "Tottenham are also keeping tabs on Shaqiri, who is currently preparing for the World Cup with his nation.". Where is this, It's Levy buying him but Poch doesn't want him coming from?
why, becuase one game in ten he will score a wonder goal?Going to get a lot of negs for this but if I had to pick between him or lamela coming off the bench to get a goal or create something I would prefer shaqiri.
No-one would set the world alight at stoke lol.We don't need more squad players and he hasnt set the world alight with Stoke, so it's a no from me.
He'll probably end up somewhere like Leicester, replacing Mahrez...
