Yet Another Ex-Manager Watch: Cristian Stellini

I am so looking forward to the team selection and the way we play. Generally speaking I'm in the 'losing football is bad football' camp.
But I'm happy to make a rare exception here. If we play well and show there is hope amongst this awful injury list, then that will be a plus for me, whatever the result.
But for sure if we play ugly and win that will be way better 🎊

Team selection will be almost identical to Conte given our numerous injuries; even if Stellini/Mason wanted to tweak things, I don't think they can.
However the way we play will be interesting. The results under Stellini during Conte's absence were impressive so let's hope that's an encouraging sign. I do feel there was a touch more freedom and the players were more relaxed when he wasn't there barking on the sidelines.
Finally if the atmosphere under Conte had become a bit toxic, we may see the players putting a little bit more effort in!

Hope he realises what an opportunity he has here, to come out of the shadows and stake a claim...

I feel sorry for him being put out there today and having to face all the questions that levy should be out there responding to. He’ll be asked them anyway and will have no answers. He really shouldn’t be out there in the firing line.

As sad as it ended badly with Conte, I think Stellini comes across really well, and very humble. I want Spurs to do well and so inherently I hope that Stellini's stint in charge goes well... it's a brief chance for him to make his own stamp on the team and come out of Conte's shadow.

You are right that he shouldn't have to face a load of difficult questions, but he should be out there facing the media as its a pre match press conference and he is the manager of a team due to play a match on Monday ! What he shouldn't have to face is being asked a load of questions far beyond his remit as a football manger, and that is entirely down to the reporters - our press officer needs to be strong and step in to deflect a lot of the 'wrong' questions and Stellini just needs to bat non football questions away politely.

Really hope he has the nads to change things up and get away from the Conte model. Injuries give him a bit of a free hit right now as well so I hope he grabs the bull by the horns now that Conte isn't breathing down his neck.

Didn't we try that the following game and ended up conceding when Dier got pulled too far up the field?
Against Leicester. He got dominated by Iheanacho when he came out to win the ball. Then he sat back and got done for Iheancho's goal.

Well if it's almost identical to Conte then straightaway I'm unhappy. I want to see fresh thinking, e g Danjuma at LWB.

If Perisic is fit, I don't see Danjuma starting unless he's been tried there in training and shown instant ability to adapt to the wing-back role.

Personally I don't have a problem with the individual players, I just want to see more positivity than under Conte especially when in the lead. If we're 2-0 up and sit on their edge of our own box inviting pressure, then it'll be clear Stellini is very similar to Conte.

Well, we'll see, agree about way of playing, that needs changing. But don't want to see the XI that Conte would pick out there at the start. To me that would be disappointing, and I would doubt their ability to be innovative.

I like he actually looks in the camera when he gave his message to the fans there at the end. Actually made his words sound pretty sincere.

He really impresses me in his interviews, he his clear and serious.

No bullshit and just straight up, I can see the players reacting to him, I would. He has done well when Conte wasn't here, let's see how he does.

Got a feeling his mate might be on the end of a phone somewhere should he need a pointer or two.

edit: maybe not

I want to create the same atmosphere we had in the game against Chelsea, West Ham, Man City, this is the type of game we want to play.

Weren't those the games without conte?

Hugo has been training since last week. Training with the team, we didn't have more of the team until Wednesday. Hugo is fitting in well.

Emerson, had the surgery, Bissouma is not ready to play. Bentancur out for the season and Richarlison with problems and Ben Davies and Sessegnon are pushing to recover. They are not ready but they are pushing to recover as soon as possible

Perisic fit

So 6 players out

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I had a hunch Conte was still involved but working from afar much like he was when he was sick.

Does that last line confirm it or am I suffering from confirmation bias?
