am i reading inbetween the lines?

but leaving Stellini is kinda like saying...

- we are not desperate.... even thou we are.... but we want to make it seem we are not to lower the asking price/wage demands.

that's just a very Levy thing to do.

To be fair I think Daniel Levy thinks a bit more clearly than whatever it is you have just written!

From the outside it looked like players were happier when he was leading earlier~ not sure that's good or bad. It might mean the 'lazy' players were more content etc.
Hoping we have the wheels in motion for a permanent appointment for the new season close~
Ah well, another day....
I didn't see any lazy performances under him. I think it's just that Conte on occasion could be a nasty piece of work ( I think we saw that in the press conference after Southampton) and they didn't want him glaring at them in training and during matches.

Stellini saved us in CL, gave Davies a chance at LWB, actually gave meaningful minutes to Richarlison (dropped Son), and I bet Danjuma gets few minutes now. Happy that he is given a chance, and yes I would prefer someone like Enrique or Nagelsmann taking over asap.

Massive mistake keeping Stellini, IMO. He's going to remain loyal to Conte and I don't expect there to be much change at all. I can't imagine the players are going to be anything other than underwhelmed by the news. It's just more of the same. Given it was clear to anyone with half a brain in Jan that Conte wasn't going to commit, we should have had a plan in place ready to go, but no, we're back to square one, floundering about, and Levy kicking the can down the road again.

Stellini (and Mason) is on a hiding to nothing.
Hes clearly not loyal to Conte. Otherwise hed have left. He clearly is staying on because he will use this experience as a spring board to a permanent job. It isnt inconceivable that players wanted him to stay either. They were chanting his name in the dressing room after a victory when he was in charge. Clearly a popular figure.

It was always likely that no one would come in right now. We aren't underachieving in the league if a new manager comes in and we see a dip you can pretend that fans would be patient but while they might say that now I dont believe for one second that thatd be truem

With Conte's brother leaving, I wonder how happy Conte actually is about the coaching team staying on until the summer. Will be interesting to see whether they group up again for his next job.

I think that is exactly what has happen. Just putting a sticking plaster over it all.

You could toss a coin for how this will go. I suspect it could easily go 5 wins, 5 defeats.

I doubt he has a massive issue. I can't see him taking another job this season - he's probably already said privately that he's just going to chill with his family and recouperate properly in Italy and that Stellini et al would just be kicking their heels until the summer anyway.

That's what I'm imagining in the made up world in my head, anyway.

Supposing he absolutely smashes it and takes say 25 points from the remaining 30.

Reckon he gets the job?

Would we as fans want him permanently?

There's less than no chance he gets it. He knows and the club knows that someone else will be there in August and will probably want to bring in their own assistant. What it will be is a chance for him to maybe impress some suitors for next season on the big stage, so he'll probably give it his all rather than go through the motions.

Of course he's loyal to Conte; he's been his assistant for donkey's years and received 'Conte's blessing.' And by loyal, I meant that he's been with the bloke for so long that he's not going to suddenly turn us into a 4-2-3-1 pressing machine. It's going to basically be the same, and that, for us fans and players is deeply underwhelming.

We needed a clean break, not Conte's leftovers hanging around. And of course we could have hired a manager to come right in. Do you not see other teams do this on the reg? Why is it only us that can't plan despite knowing for nearly 3 months that our manager wasn't sticking around? It's a shit-show however you look at it and can't be continued to be excused.

Maybe he can't afford to lose 3 months wages?

Whatever happens, I hope Stellini and Mason loosen the shackles a bit and give the players a bit of freedom and room to express themselves. Feels like Conte's micro-management of all aspects was pretty stifling and they always looked like they were scared to make a mistake. May have imagined it but I thought they looked a bit liberated when Stellini took over before but reverted to type as soon as Conte returned. The Southampton game they just fell apart when they got their 2nd goal.

I'm not holding out much hope, though I agree with you. Stellini was still there for the Sheff Utd and Wolves games, and they were as bad as we've been. But now he's in charge, maybe things will be different. I suspect they won't (after a brief reprieve against some shit side), but would obviously liked to be proven wrong.

Imagine the absolute scenes if Stellini sets us up 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 against Everton. (won't happen but would be funny)

I would have preferred Mason, but he would have had to recruit a whole new coaching team until the end of the season, so if Stellini and the rest of Conte’s crew are happy to stay on it makes sense.

I just hope that Conte can resist the urge to pick up the phone, or that if not Stellini has call barring.

Poor little souls - that nasty Mr Conte giving them looks of disdain.

Short of a protest at the ground, I can't see anything changing before the end of the season.
