That stories from the 70's I believe but I saw an article from jimmy greaves saying they were called that in the 60's and they referred to each other as yids.

The first time I remember a problem occuring about 'the jewishness' of Spurs supporters was at this Arsenal match on 16-Sep-67 at Highbury...we lost 4-0. We were youngsters right down the front of the North Bank...a young jewish Spurs fan had an argument with a slightly older Arsenal supporter...it got a bit physical and our boy came off worse breaking his glasses...in the fracas he was called a yid...something we all knew was at that time a term of abuse. It was another decade of abuse that went on before the term was taken up by our boys. Can't remember the year but Arsenal actually shifted a match day because it clashed with a particualr jewish holiday and they didn't want it impacting their own large jewish supporter base. Tottenham and Arsenal, who have shared North London / North East London for a century not surprisingly also share demographic grouping's because your mate, cousin, and neighbour was always likely to either be an Arsenal fan, jewish or both

Oooh I hope the big Arsenal or those tough Wet Ham fans aren't there to meet us when we get home. If it's Chelsea I may stay on the train or just play dead on the platform. Horrible read.

What, because they were too intelligent to get into a mass brawl because of supporting a different football team to those unintelligent thugs?

I'm not a Yid or spurs I'm tottenham.
Don't have a problem with yid and have no problem with debate but not at the expense of people making a name for themselves

Has anyone heard of a guy on twitter who changed his name to Yiddo Yidio or something. He had proof via certificates and tweeted 'if the police nick you, just say you were calling out for me'. Dunno if true (prob not) but funny as fuck either way.
