I remember being sent to the headmaster for fighting over a Panini Glenn Hoddle that my mate wouldnt swap. That was the level of my dedication for Glenn!
Always used to score when I went to watch Spurs in the mid-80s (which wasn't often). A hat-trick at Halifax, and winning goals in tight games at Liverpool and Stoke.
If it's from my Spurs supporting life time then Paul Gascoigne. If it's a player that I saw from the stands then I'd be hard pushed to separate Kinger and Keano.
Ive seen so many great players at the lane that are classy and exciting but mine is Gary Mabbutt, absolutely idolised him growing up, he was always so determined and i really looked up to him.. Shame there are not more like him now in football.
Gotta be Gazza for me. The level of excitement rose every time he got the ball. Pure theatre and, alongside Barnes and Hoddle the most naturally gifted english player i can remember.
In fairness i am a bit too young to remember too much of Hoddle, although his class was evident even to me as a youngster.
Today i actually like Gomes a hell of a lot. He kinda reminds me of the pure theatre aspect of football, you just never know if he is gonna pull off an incredible save or (maybe) make a mistake. A very likeable character imo.
