This thread is not about whether you were right or wrong but rather which signings you most loved/hated when we made them.

Favourite -

1/ Luka Modric - Absolutely loved it when we signed ratboy. I'd been a huge fan since I saw him play against Arsenal in Europe and had been banging on about him on Spurs forums like an obsessed stalker ever since.

2/ Sergei Rebrov - Another player i'd watched in Europe. I remember posting that he'd be a better signing than Schevchenko. I was kind of right :ROFLMAO:.

3/ Gareth Bale - Saw him play in the Youth Cup Final against Ipswich. Saints lost but there was only one player on the pitch for me .

Least Favourite -

1/ Glenn Hoddle - Not as a player of course but as a manager. Levy's first cock up because he was trying to curry favour with the fans. I know plenty disagree and would have him back tomorrow but I thought he was a terrible manager (and I still do). The most depressing thing was that being a Spurs legend he was always going to be hard to ditch.

2/ Federico Fazio - Never heard of him before he was linked but in the few hours between the ITK and the signing i'd watched enough YouTube vids to develop a distinct impression that this guy was Hutton dressed as Lahm. I know we've had worse CBs but nothing i've seen since has convinced me that I am wrong and being Argentine I can see Poch persisting with him no matter how bad he turns out to be. I really, really hope i'm wrong about this one :cautious:.

3/ Jermaine Defoe - Not the first time (I was all over that) but when we re-signed him from Portsmouth. Yeah, I know his record wasn't that bad but it was just the constant offsides and inability to score against any decent defence that thoroughly pissed me off.

So what were your best transfer moments when you had to explain to the wife that you hadn't just necked six Viagra but were just excited we'd signed Klinsmann, and also the worst when the window had just closed and you realised you now had to learn to spell Grzegorz :banghead: . Are you a Jonah, or a smug **** who's always right?

I was properly chuffed that we signed Lloris.

As for ones I was really not impressed with, I dunno... Normally I wait and see how they do. Darren Bent though I thought was a bonkers signing, both in price and because we already had like 4 strikers already.

Defoe/Keane (both times)
Klinsmann (and the Romanians)
Least Favourite

Bentley
Friedel

I only went for Friedel as I really liked Gomes, nothing against Friedel other than it seemed like an odd signing given his age.
I can’t really say any more as there were many players we signed from abroad whom I didn’t know and so was happy to give a chance, and those that we signed from here I was happy with. Ryan Nelson was a bit random and pointless though.

Favourite:
Lloris
Van Der Vaart
Eriksen (looked good vs City in CL year before)

Least:
Ade
(because of the way that it dragged, and he had no preseason, had disaster written all over it from the beginning)
Nielson & Saha, just old and useless.
Parker, seriously, Harry chased him all summer when scoring goals and CB were more important in my opinion. At the time I didn't see why it was so important when a Luka/T.Huddlestone or Placios midfield was proven the season before(think we had Sandro too), seemed like it wasn't worth the trouble. Even after being spanked by city. Was wrong up to a point there, he helped us kick start that year, but he and VdV were usually tired around 70 mins, left us exposed.

VDV, by quite some distance, is the most I've celebrated a transfer, but that's more because it was so out of the blue.

Also Eriksen and Lamela on the same day in 2013 was special!

Worst would have to be Saha + Nelsen. Also the famous Frazier Campbell deadline day shocker!

Favourite signing was for the way it was announced was Klinsmann on Ceefax. Came home from school, switched on the TV, page 301 and there it was.

When my Dad phoned from work to say he was coming home I told him we'd signed Klinsmann. He told me I was a silly **** and not to be so stupid.

Pretty much this actually.

Still remember us all checking the flight path for Lamela's flight!

Woodgate, VdV and Hutton. Never thought we would sign Woodgate and that season at Boro before joining us he was immense as well as for Leeds. Him and Ledley in the CC final were unbelievable.

VdV was my favorite player at Ajax and just never thought we would be able to sign someone like him. He didn't disappoint either!

Super Al was so good at Rangers and also for Scotland so I thought he was such a good signing for us and couldn't believe we managed to sign him. Injuries and form, it just never happened for him at Spurs and he hasn't ever really found his feet in English football.

A few of the faves that excited when I first found out:

Davids
Dos Santos
Huddlestone
Lamela
VDV
Carrick
Lloris
Dalmat

Although I got excited about every new signing when I was little so it's hard to pick a selection!

I've never had least favourite player before they signed, but I have been left underwhelmed by signings;

Frazier Campbell because of what it meant and the difference in quality.
Yedlin- controversially perhaps.
Khumalo
...

VdV! I was in a Cypriot bar and they had SSN with no sound and the yellow ticker flashed up!
Ended up spending a fortune calling home for proper updates from an equally excited mate.
