BBC's timing was calculated to cause maximum damage to England's bid. They could have released the show months ago giving the England bid team time to recover instead of three days before the voting.

I'm disgusted at BBC, and this isn't the first time they've disgusted me.

The BBC's duty isn't to help our World Cup bid.

Who the fuck is going to go to the Qatar world cup? Silly heat, no alcohol, poor atmosphere, the prices will be astronomical.

I'm not surprised one bit but I am bitterly dissappointed. It brings into question the worth of the Fifa committee trips to bidding nations, the reports into commercial success, the presentations etc, when the result is pre-ordained.

If we can't win it now, how are we ever going to win it?

It would be good if some kind of new breakaway organization could be formed. How did football get to the stage where it could be run by a buffoon like blatter for years upon years? It's a complete joke, which proper football fan wants to go to Qatar for a world cup?

I would like to see something drastic being done like England/the fa pulling away from figs but its never gonna happen. I'm just sick of seeing guys like Blatter run this game for so long.

Corruption...sabotage...potential boycotting of future FIFA events...it's clear how emotive a subject this is, so please don't take the following as being in any way a crticism of anybody airing their views, but...

..am I the only one that is pleased for Russia? For the Russian people that have never seen a world cup in their country?

When I first heard that Russia were bidding for the world cup along with England I immediately gave up any hope that we would get to host the tournament. Not because of FIFA accepting cash from undesirable Ruskies, or because Platini owns a dartboard shaped like England, but because it struck me straight away that Russia would actually be an excellent choice to host the world cup. They have never held it. No Eastern European country has held it. And football is obviously on the rise there, with Zenit's recent success in Europe a clear indication of this.

I would have loved us to have won. It would have been immense, and it would have been delivered brilliantly, but I also think a world cup in Russia will be quite an event to behold.

I'm not saying FIFA are not corrupt (Qatar?!? Seriously?!?), or that England not even getting a look in isn't a clear sign that we are the pariahs of the footballing world of officialdom...but Russia deserve a crack at it, and a room full of incorruptibles charged with the task of deciding the winner would more than likely have reached such a conclusion.

Best of luck with it Russia.

fifa must be laughing at this, the english media specifically the rags will blame this on bbc and the fact that fifa is the most corrupt organisation in the world (not an exageration i challenge anyone to name a more corrupt company/organisation that is still in existence) will go unresolved and the two fifa members who were suspended for being bent and jack warner who is one of the most untrustworthy individuals in the organisation will not face criminal charges which is a joke.

damn right that fifa's corruption should be exposed and hopefully now the likes of news of the world will try and expose more of fifa so that an overhaul of it might happen in the future

One of which would have presumably been England's own Geoff Thomson.

That is really disappointing.

Regarding the Quatar WC, temperature exceed 40 degrees celsisu in June/July, that is going to horrible for the players/fans.

Former Football Association executive chairman David Davies said he was "desolate" at the news, and said the England bid team had been let down over promised votes.

"Clearly, the reason the team feel so let down is that they genuinely accepted the promises that they had received were going to get support in what we all knew was going to be the difficulty of the first stage and certain people did not deliver. Why did they not deliver?" he said.

"I heard one particular European voter who all the way through had seemed to be a certainty for England, let England down at the last minute. Now that was extraordinary."

He also said the role of the English media may have scared some people off backing the bid.

"The problem with the English press as it was put to me was 'do we want to live with the English press for the next seven-and-a-half years?' which is a big question," he said.

"Some of us who've been in this rough and tumble world of the British media just accept it as that and don't complain too much.

"There is no question is that there is a different view abroad."

Ironically, from the BBC.

Australia would have been choice for 2022. The fuckers are primed for it. Would have been massive & a big success.

Fair play to Russia, I can understand that a little more than Qatar.

I don't get all the FIFA bashing on here. The England bid was a shambles from start to finish, the usual mix of arrogance, incompetence, and greed. Beckham and Wills puckering up at the last minute wasn't going to undo all of that.

As for Qatar, I don't understand it, but maybe a World Cup could do something good for that part of the world.

Of course FIFA is corrupt and full of cronyism, but is our FA much better?

I think that's all entirely fair and for those people who can actually get to Russia I'm sure it'll be a great event.

I just think I'd feel they deserved it a bit more if the whole process wasn't so obviously tainted. Even if we'd won it there should still have been mass outcry about how corrupt the whole organisation is.

We will never know whether Russia won it legitimately, or won it through some tactical use of brown envelopes or through simply not trying to expose how corrupt Fifa is. I think that alone says alot about Fifa.

Only the beeb have the mandate to complain about corruption in FIFA now. Everybody else has missed the chance following the shameful ass kissing we've seen in the last few days - that includes David Beckham, the PM and The Sun. That's the real shame I think as it was an opportunity to stand up to corruption in OUR GAME and it's all gonna be swept under the carpet now.

Fazza I am surprised you are so upset, I would have thought the sight of little Andrey breaking into a smile when awarded the WC would have melted your heart no?

Also as a footnote - the biggest reason the FA put so much time and effort into "The Bid" was the astronomical amount of money it was going to make them as a body, and all their cronies through business deals. I assure you David Dein doesn't do anything just for the love of the game.

Maybe now they can focus on actually getting the England team playing well again, and putting their vast resources, time and energy into building a proper grass roots coaching network across the country - rather than the pitiful excuse for one we have at the moment.

World Cup usually occurs in summer. During this season in Qatar, the temperature can get to 40 degrees Celsius. But Qatar says that it will be able to pull this problem off its list. A section from Qatar 2022 Bid official site explains,
"Each of the five stadiums will harness the power of the suns rays to provide a cool environment for players and fans by converting solar energy into electricity that will then be used to cool both fans and players at the stadiums. When games are not taking place, the solar installations at the stadia will export energy onto the power grid. During matches, the stadia will draw energy from the grid. This is the basis for the stadiums’ carbon-neutrality. Along with the stadiums, we plan to make the cooling technologies we’ve developed available to other countries in hot climates, so that they too can host major sporting events."
Such cooling techniques will be able to reduce temperatures from 40 to 20 degrees Celsius, which would be comfortable for players and spectators during matches, the bid also proposes these cooling technologies to be used in fan-zones, training pitches and walkways between Metro stations & stadiums.

If they manage to pull that off, it would be brilliant.

The BBC's duty isn't to help our World Cup bid.

I agree it isn't their duty to help England's WC bid especially as they wouldn't have been broadcasting the games anyway but is it BBC's duty to sabotage Englands bid under the premise of free reporting? Why did they show it three days before the vote? Why not six months ago, or two years ago? Their claims aren't new news so once again why air the show three days before the vote?

I think it's time the BBC were heavily audited to see what they do with license fee payers forced payments and to what extent their news service is politically influenced.

The silver lining in all of this for me is that it will increase support for BBC losing its charter.
