I think Joe Cole gives the term 'bullet dodged' a whole new meaning. I don't think anyone could have predicted he would have been that bad last season.

Not definitely. Everything may've been different if he'd have come to Spurs. For a start, he'd have had a manager that wanted him - Hodgson openly admitted he didn't. Harry loves him and i'm sure he would've got a lot more out of him than Liverpool did.

But i'm still glad he didn't come (in hindsight) because we ended up with vdV.

Oh, and Rebrab's mental.

Its been said to me that Harry would love Adebayor. I cant see what would have changed

But the thing is felmani26, 'writing it off' with cut price sales is really the only option. If we don't sell, then we lose even more money on them in wages, and their values slide ever lower. It makes sense to sell now, and cut our losses.

I think this is where loan moves could prove vital, not just for us as a business, but for the player himself. For instance, if Bentley pulled up trees at Birmingham and was almot deemed to be keeping them up single handedly and put in some great displays then I'm sure not only would there be more significant interest in him, but the increased likelihood of recouping more of the (absurd) £17million we forked out on him.

Bentley and Keane should have taken a leaf out of O'Hara's book and knuckled down wherever he went and eventually we got a good fee out of him and he's got a good move for his career.

and it may not of been bomber, infact Cole's form has been so bad for so long now I'm not sure any manager would rectify it.

All ifs and buts, but I'm still pleased we missed out on him for the same reason you cite.

But without VDV's goals papering over the cracks maybe we would have had our shiny new striker by now...

Don't get me wrong, VDV FTW!

I am going on holiday for two weeks, which means i will not be at work checking ITK and transfer rumours for news. Despite the utter pointlessnes of this activity in this transfer window (and the last one) I will feel seriously deprived.
What is the longest time you have been deprived of Spurs transfer gossip and how did you survive?

Did VDV's goals paper over the cracks though ?

personally, i think it was the fact that we had to change our formation to accomadate VDV that did'nt help our strikers, none of whom are suited to play upfront on their own.

I had to work overtime last tuesday which meant I couldn't check SC untill 6pm. I resorted to cannibalism.

Ok let's add some things today to reel you all back on track

Redknapp wuld walk over glass for addy, DL has/is trying. Maybe Madrid buy and loan him to us? Maybe? Maybe he takes a cut and we buy him

Guy the salary thing..... There is a TEAM cap, same as any business. If say for ewxmple we sold 4/5 big paid earners we could justify the larger ones

Also our bonus structure is extremely good. Things such as goals, assists, clean sheets, matches played, matches won etc. They add up. And better than most others, SOME players don't like it. Much like the real world where you get 100k basic and 10% bonus is much easier than 50k basic BUT double your salary in bonus.

Diarra is ongoing, he has choices, his agents met 2/3 other clubs. Hutton is good as next out the door- the journalist is correct about this and Jenas, although JJ doesn't want the move north

Modders - going nowhere
I expect the WHOLE EPL merry go to kick start this weekend. I also reckon that Llorente IS our main target - maybe we should all sing his name on Saturday? That's reckon, personal thought not ITk

Well, bomber did mention hindsight in his post. I'm sure it's something that Redknapp has thought about time and time again.

Fortunately I am so busy at work at the moment that I only get to check this once or twice a day.

I remember the days when I was refreshing this all day, if I was doing that in this window, I'd have jumped in front of a train by now

Hope your correct as out of all the targets discussed think Liorente is the man who fits the best with VDV in behind. He is so strong and sure would need no time adapting. But as always we need to clear some dead wood before we buy.

If Diarra is still considering his options I would say he is nowhere near done.

All we have heard for the last three days is diarra is in London and done. Now he has 2/3 options. I have had enough we are all deluded, no one knows what is going on.

He's burnt done.

But we all remember another certain Frenchman getting in a taxi from ours saying he'd agreed then to stop at the scum, sign and be with them for 6 years

The team cap has been discussed before, along the lines of a certain percentage of turnover iirc. The real problem (as I see it) is that it's not just about offering a player high wages as long as it's within the total team allowance, but rather that if you offer higher wages then everyone will want in on the act. If you start offering 100k a week to a new star signing, then surely Modric, Bale and VdV will want the same, and the problems begin.
