I agree with this but Lipton yesterday suggested that Levy is our DoF and he was saying how Harry was unsure of the signing and that he pushed it through but then again ruud said the exact same thing and that he told harry to get him

i hear what youre saying but i dont mean he should do it on all examples, leandro was just a particularly fitting one.
also, on the flip side, had he paid the extra 2 million last summer, we would have had an alternative to adebayor up front and im willing to bet that had we signed the extra striker, they would have earnt us at least one point extra.
that would have given us 3rd and a windfall of 35m CL money + the 4 million extra prize money from the league...
there are certain players - ones that look to have all the right attributes and are being offered at a good price (14m was a very fair asking price in my view) that levy should just be happy to do the deal rather than trying to be the master haggler and trying to mug them off.
Assuming the bit about Leandro is true (and I'm not sure as it is), as I explained on another thread, when this issue came up, we are one fo the best run clubs, financially in the EPL, and we benefit greatly from that. Now, if Mr Levy just jumped to it, and paid these extra £2 millions here and there, and sold players for the £2 million less, just to get deals done where he lets them drag on or fall though, where do you think we would be?
Say, for example, we have 4 players in and 4 players out, and we sell for £2 M less than we could have got for each one, and we buy 4 players for £2 M more than we could have got them for if levy bargained hard and long. That makes £16 million. Now, say, he had done this in the last five years - that makes a total of £81 million. Would we still be profitable? No, we would be in debt.
We have a very good squad right now, and are challenging for the CL places (basically attained in two of the last three seasons - yeah, thanks Chavski
I am glad that Mr Levy can see this clearly, and doesn't gamble our long term future on the very dubious possibility that we might do better if we got some players in a bit faster, and we got some players in that we miss out on. And not just a bit better but substantially better.

I think it is an interesting one.
I was never sold on the idea.
Then I watched the USA demolish Scotland, and thought it was somewhat more interesting. They had some really good movement and showed some real vision and confidence.
Then they got slapped by Brazil, but even then, they showed real spirit, got themselves back in the game and were quick unlucky not to finish closer...but Brazil were their rapid counter-attacking, clinicla in front of goal best.
As one of the few posters above who did mention it said, you can't get any closer to a Klinsmann-esque signing than signing Klinsmann
TBH, the way I feel right now, I'd give it a go.

All this is true, and, believe me, I get as frustrated as the next fan.
But, aside from me because I predicrted it, who would have known that Chelsea would flop in the league last season? Would Levy have been justified to have taken a massive gamble on it? I mean, what if they hadn't flopped and we had invested money we couldn't really afford. At the end of the day, that is what Leeds did. Levy has us competing around the top 4, has done it for a longer period, and looks to continue to do so, with little chance of a Leeds-style collapse, I am happy that he isn't gambling on one immediate big spend now, repay in Summer when CL achieved throw of the dice, TBH.

No chance of Klinsmann. We played fantastic against Scotland, only to relapse against Brazil and Canada. The side is clearly a work in progress and he doesn't seem like the type to jump ship in he middle of his own project. With World Cup qualification starting in two days, Jurgen's job is only just now really starting. In my opinion, we have more of a chance of signing Messi than Klinsmann at this point in time. He doesn't want to leave, and US Soccer and Gulati don't want him to leave.

Who is USA's Low though? Klinsmann doesn't get his hands dirty on the training pitch. He's more a highly effective Trevor Brooking.

You could have scored about 4 in the Brazil game! Ball didn't want to go in. You're looking good and Bradley in the deeper role looked brilliant. Johnson was also great going forward. I didn't catch the Canada game. I agree re Klinsmann, though. No chance.

Although, just to muddy the waters, he also marked my post as Informative where I pointed out that there had been ITK on Klinsmann
Because there has been ITK on it - even if the poster stated immediately that the source was a bit sketchy.
And for all those commenting - I wasn't saying I thought Klinsmann was likely, but that there had been ITK claiming it, and thought, on that basis, it being the ITK thread for discussing, well, ITK, I would give discussing ITK in the ITK thread a go...y'know, see what that was like.
