i seem to remember an interview/article where Harry explains that deadline day deal. he said DL called him, asked him if he wanted him and VDV was ours. this was not from an ITK or another poster.

I remember the interview. The anti-Harryists have used it as a springboard ever since to spout unfounded theories about how Harry has little involvement in transfers and lacks the ability to spot a player.

He also said in that same interview that we enquired a few days prior and were quoted £17-18m and also that they thought he was off to Bayern. To me that suggests he was very much a target but Danny was contacted as part of a massive climb down by Madrid as it was so close to the deadline

Does Harry do anything apart from golf! My dad is playing in a pro am in Newcastle today and guess who just tee'd off!

I actually played in a golf day at St Andrews in the same group as Harry the other day, on the fourth i hit a really bad iron shot sliced off into the woods and yelled some expletives, Harry immediately jumped in with "what have you got to moan about? you've never 'ad it so good. Playing at the home of golf with big names..."

So i replied "but it was a shit shot, wherever it was?"

he then proceeded to parrot off the same 'never ad it so good' speech like he was stuck in an infinite loop.

so i decided to have a bit of fun with him and left my phone there playing my "but it was a shit shot" phrase on loop...

I believe he was found 2 days later (after Jamie had activated his tracking device) curled up in a ball muttering something like "ok Daniel i'll accept the year just make it stop"

Yes, he must be straining at the leash to sack the most successful manager the team has seen since the good ol' days....Nice one!(y)

Not sure 86/7 and 89/90 can be called the good ol' day (Pleat and Venables of course both managed to hold on to 3rd and do better in the cups).

Yes, it's been an endless list of trophies since Redknapp took over. Our cup runneth over.

Ah, the yearning for mid-table and an occasional mikey mouse cup. Yes lets forget the best ppg average, and highest league finishes in the premiership....

I don't remember the last manager who threw away a 10+ point lead in 2 months time.

Yes your quite right, we were in quite a precarious position....in the running for the title!
Dropping 10 points in 2 months sounds bad, but it was an inevitable dip in form that every team in the league encounters at some point in varying severity.

We finished 4th, even though we were so dire that people are calling for the managers head....

Im not even sure sometimes, yeah some of his cautious stuff works out great, but there are moments when you just wish he would spend the extra little bit.

damiao is a perfect example, last summer or maybe even earlier, we bid 12million, they wanted 14 but levy wouldnt pay it. Now he's brazil's #9 and his value has jumped.

i like how levy runs the club and the stability it brings, but what i dont like is him waiting until the last hour of the window to get a player for 500k less than what it would have cost months before. Worryingly, i think he likes the brinkmanship of waiting until 11pm on the 31st and pulling a transfer from nowhere...

Assuming the bit about Leandro is true (and I'm not sure as it is), as I explained on another thread, when this issue came up, we are one fo the best run clubs, financially in the EPL, and we benefit greatly from that. Now, if Mr Levy just jumped to it, and paid these extra £2 millions here and there, and sold players for the £2 million less, just to get deals done where he lets them drag on or fall though, where do you think we would be?
Say, for example, we have 4 players in and 4 players out, and we sell for £2 M less than we could have got for each one, and we buy 4 players for £2 M more than we could have got them for if levy bargained hard and long. That makes £16 million. Now, say, he had done this in the last five years - that makes a total of £81 million. Would we still be profitable? No, we would be in debt.

We have a very good squad right now, and are challenging for the CL places (basically attained in two of the last three seasons - yeah, thanks Chavski ). How much would we have benefitted from getting a few of these deals done quicker, and getting some of the players we have missed out on? Can you absolutely guarantee that we would have finished higher than we have? Because we have done really well but, really (in absolute terms, not just their poor showing this season), the gap between us and Chelsea, and Citeh/United in terms of spending power is enormous. And this has a general correlation to success. So the chances are we would have still been competing around about the 4th spot - only we would be quite heavily in debt. And when you are heavily in debt you have to sell your best players - not because they want higher wages, or because the team isn't progressing as quickly as they wuold like, but because the bank manager tells you to.

I am glad that Mr Levy can see this clearly, and doesn't gamble our long term future on the very dubious possibility that we might do better if we got some players in a bit faster, and we got some players in that we miss out on. And not just a bit better but substantially better.

"Walks in and see's alot of hate for ITK's and after not seein his name on any ITK posts sayin there respect his ITK walks out"

Its because you dont have a snappy enough name. That's your main downfall as an ITK. Ben, JJ, Archibald are all easy to remember. I suggest you rename yourself Eric.

Oh and just to note....the Happyspur from COYS in the roundup is not me. Unfortunately. I wish I had connections. As I said yesterday in response to it "I'm so far removed from ITK I just heard about that new kid from Argentina. He's hot. Named Madonna or something."

I could connect you to the Mains...for a small fee :sneaky:

Nothing on Niko? I'm a bit sad he's leaving us.....always liked to see him play for us even though he probably isnt good enough for the very top...

And our handsome-factor will drop a few points with Niko leaving. He's a sexy, sexy man (I've allowed my missus to sleep with him in exchange for Scarlett Johanson).

Shit me, why are people still discussing HR on this thread? The only ITK has been from Pottle about Vertonghen.

Not true, we did have some ITK (albeit the bearer of it admitted it was a bit dubious) concerning a certain German manager.
