Lets see how Gio does in training. If he knuckles down and trains hard then I see no reason why he can't make a place for himself in AVBs squad. He has a lot of work to do, but with a new manager here now it gives players like GDS a new opportunity. He could prove to be ideal in AVBs system.

GDS won't be in training until after the America tour... he's with Mexico for the Olympics.

Which is why I don't expect him to be sold until after then. If AVB wants to give him a chance then he'll have to see him train first.

I asked JJ on Twitter a while ago about Gio and his problems breaking in to the squad/impressing Harry/attitude problems. He said the problems were both on Gios and Harrys behalf. Whatever that means.

Hope Gio stays for another year.

He is a lot more talented than our other fringe players like Bentley and Jenas, and if AVB restore some confidence in the kid he might even appear like a new signing!

He have the attributes needed to succeed, and the way AVB is gonna rotate the squad i can see him getting lots of games and racking up some goals and assists.

If he fail this year and continue his clubbing habit as ppl report then ship his ass out. Think a lot of ppl could be suprised by him next season if we keep him.

Go didn't like Harry - didn't have the right attitude for him
Harry didn't like Gio because he didn't have the right attitude and disliked him straight away due to falling out of clubs.
Gio then unable to get games.

I see the problem there.

I wonder if Akqayid is just confusing two players from Atletico Madrid ? IE he's heard we're after a striker from AM and he's just assumed it's Falcao, when in fact it's Adrian ?

Adrian is more you versatile type isn't he, can play anywhere across a front 3 for example. Would make more sense in a way, if we are getting Adebayor.

Sounds like they just didn't like each other.

There have been glimpses here and there of Gio looking good. A few years ago he was having a great game in one of the cups (I think it was Plymouth, when Crouch scored a hat-trick), and then got injured. He also played well for Ipswich in the games I saw him in.

He's definitely not a poor footballer by any stretch of the imagination, and if AVB wants to give him a fresh start then fair enough.

Think he does deserve a chance to be honest. The club don't really have a lot to lose to at least keep him around a bit longer to see what he can do under a new management? If he can fill a hole or be a backup for injuries/absence - great in my opinion :)

Probably not a popular view amongst the people here though!

Cause that worked when Harry took over

he's got the talent so if he can work hard he will be a good player in our squad he should take example from a lot of players in our squad

This. If Gio knew Harry wasn't going to select him then he proably didn't put the effort in whilst training, consequently Gio wasn't selected. The perfect downbward spiral.

If Gio puts the effort in I believe he will be given a chance by AVB. It's up to Gio now.

My mate was playing for Ipswich when Gio was there on loan. He said he was the best player by far at training but he was always the last one to turn up. I was never a massive fan of him at Barca, but who knows with a manger that would give him a chance, he may actually do something for us. Only waited 4 years.

Hope to be proved wrong with Gio. Not a big fan though at the moment I've got to say.

And surely that is just opinion from Jasper anyway rather than ITK? Unless he's in bed with AVB already.

Falcao explained:

Akqayid signs off with "Falcao... night."

Falc-ao. Fuck-all. Night.

Basically, nothing to see here. Good night.

Now why he had to spell it like that and tease everyone, I do not know.

The only thing I'll say about Gio is that 433 is made for him.

Then, again even if he was being played out of position wide in a 422, he could have at least put some effort and work-rate in, none of which ever happened.

Cabinessence on FTL:
Cabinessence said:
Bit of top up info from the usual source.
City accepted a lower than market price so we could pay his signing on fee in lieu of wages.
Still after signing a "world class " young striker.
Apparently between 4 to 6 in which includes those 3 already here, so up to 3 left to go. Don't think that number includes the Man U youngster. Modric defo going. Trying for Moutinhu and Leandro. Nothing earth shattering so just really adding a bit of credence to the rumours already going around.

When does his contract run out? This summer might be the last chance we have to get cash monies for him.

But harry didn't give him a chance, ledley was photographed "falling out of clubs" and he didn't train (for obvious reasons). Defoe and lennon like their clubs as does Danny rose. But they all got a chance.
