As a Newbie I don't post much, but I do follow the ITK thread and Twitter thread very closely. I am old enough (55+) and wise enough not to take any post as gospel, nor to dismiss any ITK post as a complete falsehood.

If I was to offer any advice, it would be this :

'The wise old owl sat in the oak,
the more he heard the less he spoke,
the less he spoke the more he heard,
let's all be like that wise old bird'

(y)

The only problem is if we all start sitting in trees, we're going to become more and more like the ITKs themselves.

its funny people blaming itks and jj in this instance but with regards this itk i dont think it was going to happen in first place. no player at madrid wud join spurs not even ones who cant get a game there. it was exciting gettingthe tweet off jj about a world class signing but in all honesty yours truly never really believed any world class player would sign.

we havent turned up tree's this window again though and back to pre season with only defoe as only striker at club. money talks and we shit out of luck.

with that modric deal we shuld have just as a club said months ago when we knew were not in champions league to say fuvck it inter take 40 million for leandro and oscar and be done with it. everything is dragged out with spurs to get max publicity and all the bullshit that comes with it. we look weak in midfield depth striker situtation is a real worry imo. interesting few weeks ahead but without money spurs are getting blown out of water left right and center.

any top player or supposed top player we are been linekd is going elsewhere and im sure agents arent even dealing with us till all other options are exhausted.

Bit of an exaggeration surely considering we currently have a player who couldn't "get a game there" so its not like every single Madrid player would reject us, you can't just say that.

It's also still too early to judge the window so far considering we still have a long way to go yet. We have made two quality signings for not that much money, and we appear to be close to signing Adebayor so it's not all bad, chin up mate. Also, we're not weak in midfield, unless you're not including Modric but won't assume we'll sign a replacement.

he was thrown into our laps when several other clubs didnt bite. he was off to munich but last minute collapse and then offered to clubs to england.. well documented and exhausted that one now. whats im saying is and i would argue is, if we bid for any madrid player now first team or reserve it wud take major major luck on our behalf. personally think no one at madrid wud have any interest in playing for us.

Regardless of how he came about.

He still signed thus really invalidating your arguement.

You are entitled to your opinion of course, and my opinion is I am glad you are not running the club. although my season ticket would be cheaper with us being in League 1, I wouldnt find that satisfying tbh

The only people that actually got hurt here, are the ones that pretend to know stuff with their work mates via JJ's knowledge. It's these people that are left without an explanation.

And let's face it people that do that are knobheads. I mean what are you going to say "oi lads, you'll never guess who we are going to sign. Massive mate, off the scale"

You are always going to look stupid if you have no name to back it up.

I am loathed to talk JJ and I hope the experience of "being wrong" in some people's eyes does not burn him. I just hope he does not shy away from sharing nuggets in future.

I can understand that whatever went tits up was big for us and at the end of the day he is a Spurs fan and like any of us, he would have naturally have been excited and wanted to hint something was on the horizon. The downside is, with his rep, and the volume of followers he has putting it on twitter gives huge exposure and because he seldom divulged anything until it is close people have assumed it was nearly done.

To me, JJ is only guilty of perhaps getting a little over excited and being a victim of his very respectable hit rate. Hopefully his next info passes without a hitch and restores people's faith.

adebayor needs competition and serious competition for his place in team but until he signs first we wont be signing another big name striker imo.

i wasnt including modric but as it stands we have no competition for lennon and none for bale in a midfield 4 !! you take any of these two out and we have a serious lack of pace in a midfield. we lack that extra bit of creativity and guile even with modric so without him its going to be alot worse than people think. so that needs to be sorted. replacing modric with just one player puts huge pressure on that player to hit the ground running and wasnt their itk already saying tim sherwood and avb still see midfield area as light and not enough strength. i def agree with them. we dont have enough competition for places in the forward areas .

I'm pretty sure it's you who I've corrected on this numerous times before, but here it is one more time...

We enquired early in the window, we're quoted a very high price, said no, but asked to be informed if things changed. Tings changed towards the end of the window, Rafa was told he wasn't wanted, Real Madrid got in contact and the move happened at a price we were happy with.

Are there any trees overlooking the new training ground - we could organise a mass perch and the Spurs Community chorus of "where's my .......... " (add position as desired)

Wasn't he offered to Liverpool first and they declined?

Edit: OK,. nicdic, I stand corrected.

im glad u dont run club either. the point im making and obviously you cant see is we are not good enough to attract a madrid player currently at their club. vdv was a transfer deadline beat the clock signing who knew he stood no chance of getting a game at madrid. this player that jj talks about whoever he is is obviously someone within madrid who believes he has a chance of getting in team or is in it already so has no interest in us or joining us whether that be a higauin, benzema, granero , sahin or whoever.

VDV was to Madrid then basically what Jenas is to us now. Chances of us signing one of their first teamers was always gonna be low.

fair play to jj though for saying it's gone tits up, he could've just swept it under the carpet.

bap bap americano.
It's not like he was the one who kyboshed the deal anyway. No doubt he'll keep things a lot closer to his chest, rightly or wrongly. That's a decision only he can make. I appreciated the info and was excited but always thought, in the back of my mind, it could all go Pete Tong. Any deal can after all, much less one for a bona fide star.
