im glad u dont run club either. the point im making and obviously you cant see is we are not good enough to attract a madrid player currently at their club. vdv was a transfer deadline beat the clock signing who knew he stood no chance of getting a game at madrid. this player that jj talks about whoever he is is obviously someone within madrid who believes he has a chance of getting in team or is in it already so has no interest in us or joining us whether that be a higauin, benzema, granero , sahin or whoever.
Why is it 'obvious'? There would have to have been some sort of interest shown in joining us for the deal to get to the point where JJ starting jizzing. No interest would result in no jizz.

I'm pretty sure it's you who I've corrected on this numerous times before, but here it is one more time...

We enquired early in the window, we're quoted a very high price, said no, but asked to be informed if things changed. Tings changed towards the end of the window, Rafa was told he wasn't wanted, Real Madrid got in contact and the move happened at a price we were happy with.

so what ? dont need to be reminded what happened . i knew myself what happened. he was signing for munich for 17 or 18 million few days before window ended and that deal fell thru so madrid in their urgency to sell him offered to clubs in england at even greater reduced rate. what im saying is why are we wasting our time now with madrid with a player who isnt in that situation ala vdv?

this player that jj is on about is obviously a player ,who unlike vdv who was told to do one by madrid, that plays there regularly or plays his part within the set up and is happy there otherwise he would have left.

you know what, you're right.

why should we try and better ourselves? we should stick to the tried and tested buying players that are our level or below because thats worked so well for us over the last 20 years of the premiership.

who does Rasiak play for now, must be worth a cheeky bid

well thats the interesting point and point i dont get- in any deal to be done im sure first question and last question is money so any potential deal surely must have been increasing the players wages or at least matching it. after that i have no idea but personally dont believe it got to this 90% deal completion.

the only possible outcome is , this is a player who is been banded about clubs that we dont know about publicly. we were keen and in talks but when we thought deal is to be done other top clubs have come in and simply player lost interest in us.. thats only explanation for me.

nothing wrong with trying to better ourselves but that costs money if u want proper players which is the stage we are at. top strikers will cost more than 16 million. top creative midfield players will cost more than 16 million. i remain to be convinced by anyone that we will break our transfer record for any kind of player in any position.

we sign players just outside this bracket and a level below world class in the hope they can up it a notch or two when they join us. nothing wrong with that so we should just stick to it cos we are not capable of signing world class 20 million pound players. the the truth and bottom line of it. any top young player for example oscar is going for what 25million now. we are never going to pay that but point im making is once clubs know a top player is going he is banded about top clubs and in most cases one club will outbid us and blow us away in terms of wages alone and then the fact of we are even in cl.

I would to love know why the deal fell through.

It just goes to show how hard swap deals are to conclude though. To push through 2 multi-million pound deals at the same time must take some hard negotiating.

For someone checking in briefly on their phone, this thread has become absolute balls. 3 pages and I haven't seen an actual tweet. Just discussions about how we should treat ITK. This isn't the ITK thread.

I just don't get this whole 'We shouldn't even try' attitude

and how is it ok to throw whatever Internacional want, to sign 2 players that have allegedly rejected to join us. but not to effectively do the same to try sign a player from a club who are higher up the food chain?

Makes no sense

Its all about wages, you can give the best speech as to why a player should join us as you like, but then ask him to join for 70k a week.... not happening. That is why we will struggle to get a top top player.

We all love spurs here, but lets be honest you sign for Real Madrid youve hit a career high, its the dream. Youre not going to give up the dream easily.

I am not saying that this isn't true.

I am just rejecting the notion that we shouldn't even try

Im starting to think of ITKs as the football version of a cocktease. They get you all excited only to leave you with your dick in your hand. Only rarely does se come good.

or so ive heard ..clearly no woman can resist me;)

point im making was we all knew modric was leaving in may but instead of waiting for an auction to happen for oscar we should have gone about our business in a quiet manner and done deals with inter who are a club who needs to sell according to their president and also a club in debt if im reading stuff right. with 40 million even bit more we should have made them an offer they could not refuse instead of trying to penny pinch them. we would have not been breaking the bank or putting our club in debt as we know we have at least 40 million coming in for modric.

i admire ur ambition in trying to buy madrid or even barca players or players at clubs with statute like this so good luck with that my friend. it aint happening unless in exceptional transfers like vdv one.

This thread has been an odd read today. Very little decent twitter action!

Anyone even remotely critical of JJ wants to take a look at themselves quite frankly

We're never gonna agree and I think we've derailed this thread for long enough.

Of course you should try to better yourself, but its a realism we have to deal with until we get stadium sorted.

As long as you dont waiste a window chaseing an unrealistic target, take the no on the chin and move on. There are plenty of players at 'lower' clubs in Spain that would be a considerable improvement too our current squad, would be on realistic wage and see spurs as a chance to challenge for trophies and (sorry you wont like this bit but its true) as a good move until they one day get the dream move to Madrid or Barca.
