Really hope we get someone to actually come into our first team here. Holtby would be a great signing for the summer, but we need someone now. :(

Really? I think we're doing OK tbh. The most immediate issue is what we do if/when Ade goes to Africa. The other possibility is an injury to Dembele. For the first, we can probably get by with Defoe. For the second - I don't see who we could get now who would be good enough to be excellent cover, yet happy to sit on the bench after half a season of being first choice for whoever.

The most likely top quality player to come in seems to be Leandro, bizarrely. Makes sense because his team's season is over(?) and he could slot straight in up front - particularly if Ade is away.

We're doing fine now, but as you say, a serious injury to Dembele or Bale then we will struggle massively. I'd be OK with Carroll actually being Dembele's deputy, but I don't think AVB is. Looks like Parker/Hudd/Livermore are above him in the pecking order at the moment - and I don't want Huddlestone or Livermore anywhere near the first team.

I'd quite like us to sell Huddlestone and loan/sell Livermore - promoting Luongo and Carroll in their place instead. Would save a chunk on wages, could get us about £10m to spend and I think ML+TC are very good prospects.

We've not had any ITK on Hudd yet have we?

Nothing in this one though? once it comes order will be resumed i then expect JKH rumours to come thick and fast. and for once id welcome both rumours...we need that striker. (y)

would be surprised, am sure he could get more money in spain or italy

would be a good signing though
Spain have put their higher rate tax rate up, so aren't as attractive as they became after we put up our higher rate tax, the pendulum has swung back our way. Most clubs in Italy are going through a hard time with cutbacks an example being sneijder being touted around.

With the EPL new tv deal coming up we are the most attractive destination in most cases [bugger Llorente].

I think Lennon have really improved in that aspect this season. Seems much more consistent in performance, and brings something most of the time. Good runs, and always keep the opponents LB busy. Great goal against Sunderland, and seems all the supposed work on his final ball have actually paid off! Now if only he wasn't so shot-shy...

I guess you have a point though, I really have it in for Nani. Maybe actually for some of the same reasons that some would like him, he always performs against us!

However I think most would agree that personality wise he seems to be a bit of a primadonna nutter, and probably one to create disturbance in the squad? That is at least unless Parker and The Beast™ consequently scythed him down in training once pr. idiotic stunt he pulled. However he would then probably be out injured all of the time, and as such to no use on his probably demanded mega-wages ;)

Furthermore, the only way I can see old whiskynose letting his Nani go, would be if we bought the Bebe also...
Dont think AVB agrees, he made him captain a couple of games.

completely off topic but i see Ba to chelsea is an undiclosed fee. Surely we all know its £7.5m based on the clause in his contract???
As I understand it is only every second window that the clause is due. Means that in Jan it is possible for Newcastle get out more than the clause.

I agree - someone else was pointing out that the PL TV deal this year means £60m to the BOTTOM team (more than we got in total last year) - the tax changes in Spain, economic meltdown in Italy and this means we should be in a much better position to get deals done this year than in previous years. The problem is if we keep the same mentality. All the comments a couple of years back that it was "now or never" to capitalise on being in the CL places seem to be as relevant now.

If we are in a position to offer higher wages or spend a little more than usual to bring in Moutinho or Damiao (or Houltby now rather than in August) surely it makes sense.
