I wonder if Villa would be interested in £18m plus Lennon?

They get enough to buy a another young striker and get a significant upgrade on the wing.

Just don't see where Aaron fits in for us in 433.

Only way lennon will go is if we get players to play in the wide 433, as just now all we have is Bale.... and as good as he is, he cant play both sides, be cover for injury/suspensions also.

Townsend seems more of a fit for 433 too, although better cutting in from the right like Gareth.

We need him to play the diva and put pressure on Villa to lower the price down. He has already started by not going to the preseason tour.

Hate that kind of behaviour, but that would help us to get close to a £20m price.

Come on Chris, make them suffer!

I think cash plus player deal is defintely the way Levy will play this one.

Lambert had Naughton at Norwich and iirc tried to sign him for Villa last season, so he is one player that could be involved in the transfer. 15mil plus Naughton would be great but I think we'd need to include another player, maybe chance our arm with offering Jake or Hudd.

A Tom Carroll loan to Villa would also be an ideal move for us.

Worried about this signing. He has had a good season, but is not proven. It's a risk, a big risk too if he is our only 'known' striker purchase this summer

They bought him for £7m. For them to double their money plus a bit more on him after 1 good season would not be unreasonable...

Very confident with the creativity and platform we have. Not only that, I think he is the type of striker required to create space for the likes of Bale and even Paulinho to get forward.

In fact, there's not many strikers out there who I'd be more confident in to do that who wouldn't cost a lot more and are not already playing in the CL.

Suarez cost 22m from Ajax.

There is better value out there if we are prepared to spend that kind of money.

If we get in a big striker like benteke then Lennon will be worth keeping around to enable us to play 4-2-3-1 when we need to change our game plan.

His ability to run to the line and cross it infront of goal have mostly been worthless because we didnt have the right players there to attack them, but with benteke, bale behind him and paulinho storming into the box this is a good option to have imo. (paulinho also a beast when attacking crosses)

Well right now Villa is in a strong position with the 3 years left on his contract.

We need something to help us out if we don't want to pay £25m, which we won't by the way.
Then we move on. if the club don't want to sell then find value somewhere else.
Me I'd be looking in Italy, where clubs are in a financial pickle. Could Roma turn down 2om for Destro for example?

When players like Modric do this to us we complain like mad - strange how you can accept it when boot is on the other foot!!

It's not very imaginative to go for Benetke, a club like us needs to search for the best deals, this guy is worth 20-28 million just because he had one good season in the prem, I think he would be a very risky signing.

Of course you're right. But I'd rather be the club that the players are crying to come play for, than then other way around.

Modric was a world class player so when he stamped his feet it made some ripples. Benteke is an unproven youngster so should not be throwing his toys out the pram to force move.

Benteke can hand in as many transfer requests as he can, I cannot see Levy paying £ 25 M for him, and to be honest if Aston Villa do get £ 25 M it will be great business for them as he has only had one good season and they have bought a replacement for him already.

He's been very badly advised to hand in a transfer request but he does have previous at that and he would do the exact same to us.

Not sure if I would like him, but now we have lost out on David Villa maybe he is as good as we can attract

Agree with this, unlikely to get him imo, too expensive. Who have Villa signed as his replacement though??
