Dunno about that, can see Bernard being earmarked for a more central role here. Bit of a riskier signing, but looks another full international. Think his price might be an issue for Levy, but if he's successful we could easily double our money which could appeal enough.

Fat lady hasn't sung with him yet IMO, although I'm not overly optimistic tbf.

i think it has unfortunately. i've not seen or heard of bernard playing centrally before, he's only ever played left and right. we now have bale, lennon, townsend, chadli and to a lesser extent siggy and dempsey who can play there. i just hope he doesn't end up down the road :(

The Hong Kong trip will be the perfect bonding opportunity for Chadli. For anyone that ever played team sports, preseason trips were always the best times to build team chemistry/bond, etc. So, having Chadli there is huge in my opinion. It also makes me angry that Paulinho won't be with us until the 29th.

Totally agree, he doesn't even have to play, just be there to meet with the lads and bed in.

Why? Do you have some info about him leaving? Because you can't be saying that simply because we've signed a player.

There are limited places in the squad and I think Dempsey wouldn't be happy with not even making the bench.

I would rather keep Lennon, Townsend & Falque.

Paolo my friend, i dread what would happen to the world on the day you become even the tiniest bit optimistic about anything spurs related :)

However good or bad Nacer Chadli turns out to be, remember that last season we named David Bentley in our PL squad. Chadli is essentially his replacement.

And will cost us, I would estimate, about 2.5-3 million pounds per year less.

It's not bad, is it?

Looking through the ITK it seems Gards was the first to mention Chadli on 7th July. Is that about right? If so, fair play. Can't remember seeing him linked in the papers beforehand though could be wrong.

From watching his youtube clips I must say he looks like a bargain .... he's 2 FOOTED, can shoot from outside the box, head the ball and he scores with an exquisite chip from the edge of the box. Welcome to Spurs :D

I was going to post this. For some reason he seems to get discredited a lot here but fair play to him on this one.

We don't have too much going for us with regard to signing Bernard IMO, besides a couple of compatriots. Other interested parties like the Scum and Porto can offer more money, CL football and with Porto, possibly an easier transition.

The price alone for the risk makes it seem quite realistic to not be overly optimistic about signing him if you're honest with yourself.
