It will certainly be an interesting tour to see who steps up and impresses. 27 outfield players to evaluate is quite a lot so the cream will have to rise to the top. And that’s not including those left behind like Gil…I wonder where his chances to impress come from now and how that will play out compared to others on the tour.

This is not really a surprise. Aside from the centre halves, there's a huge amount of quality in the squad. Talent wise, players like Perisic, Reguilon, Ndombele, GLC, Hojbjerg, Bryan are still very good players especially if repurposed in different tactics and different positions.

What scares me a bit is sometimes our players flatter to deceive. So a few training seasons and a couple of half hearted games with unfit opponents might make Ange things they are better than they are. Preseason has a habit of that (I was there when we smashed Roma)

I do think we have to remember that we've been viewing these players through the lens of Jose, Nuno and Conte for the past 3 years.

Some players that were deemed to be rubbish may well suit a manager with a polar opposite approach like Ange.

The way Ive read it is that the large squad that’s departed these shores will be given play time to impress under different circumstances, including those given up on by the great unwashed who have returned from loan.
Then,thos that fall by the wayside, including maybe some key starters from last season, could leave the club quickly, maybe even during the tour.

Totally agree with you. But I am also hopefully that this might be a fresh start for some players. They might decide to start giving a sh*t and work hard.

It's been awhile since we had a manager who want to develop a team rather then bringing players he knows can play in his style.

Fingers crossed we tie up VdV soon and he can fly out to join the team.

Ange is no mug - he knows we need a CB - Just not rushing into it.
