I have a sinking feeling that Levy simply wants a manager who will be happy to be in the background while Levy stays in the spotlight.

Honestly, what other club is there where you think of the chairman before you think of the manager? Not many.

This is what worries me as it would seem that De Boer was our preferred option after LVG and now it seems like Poch is the favourite and the only reason that Levy could have changed his mind is the fact that one has talked to the press and one hasn't.

I would have hoped that playing style, philosophy, how their system would suit our players, man management skills, title winning experience etc would be some of the more important criteria when making a decision on the new manager, but I fear Levy wants above all a manager he can control.

Comment on Sky Sports latest De Boer article from a Villa fan...

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I was reading a reddit article on de Boer and there was some Villa fan slagging off Spurs and saying Villa was a much bigger club. They can't even fill their stadium most matchdays lol

I definitely think Villa, along with a few other clubs, will be in the market for a new manager this summer.

Potential new owners too at Villa, might be something happening. Really hope we get FDB, Poch isnt a bad fallback option though if its him.

I think he just wants one that will be successful. Imagine the arse ache he's had trying to manage the clusterfuck across the last year. Negotiating a world record deal with those dodgy Spaniards, find a top class talent scout, negotiating and signing off on no less than 7 top internationals to set us on our way for the season. Watching the manager he'd thought was going to do it for us crash and burn, the replacement acting like a drunk baby. I bet he just wants to get someone good in and put his feet up!

They really are bitter about us for some reason. This has been a bad season for us in terms of what we were aiming for but we're still about 20 points better off than they are and a few points behind our own personal best total. I'm reminded of the Villa fan last summer who claimed that with Benteke staying put, they'd tear apart the league and leave us behind. If they lose to City tonight and we beat them, they could end up 17th lol.

A couple of excellent articles on Pocchetino....

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/nov/22/mauricio-pochettino-southampton-espanyol

http://www.footytube.com/news/guard...cio-pochettino-as-kids-show-their-worth-L5120

Just like some of my reservations regarding other potential appointments like FdB & Benitez, I have some concerns surrounding Pocchetino too. But I've been mightily impressed by Southampton this year, particularly the high intensity football they've adopted that often produces attractive results going forward. They are also very organised and well-drilled defensively, and just like his time at Espanyol, Pocchetino is not afraid to blood youngsters.

When I first got in to supporting Spurs i was on Vitalfootball instead of SC but the Villa Vitalfootball was always vitriolic towards Spurs. I think the hate comes from us being ambitious, but not yet successful. People hate that person who wants to step up above their level. Also the fact that any decent foreign player/manager will choose Spurs over Villa 99/100 adds to the hate :D The season VDV joined us their forums were hillarious

Oh yes, that's right we're all constantly on the phone to LSH for office space in.....Birmingham :bored:

I've only been to Birmingham twice, once was for a music equipment expo at the NEC which was good but the other time I went through the city center on a coach on the way to the Lake District (the long way) and saw prostitutes operating in the day time like it was nothing. They were ugly prostitutes as well.

They call it England's second city but if it is second, it's a long way off first...It's like one giant Tottenham

Crossing FDB off the list because he spoke publicly about some interest would be such a standard Levy move.

I mean, we created this situation where we are obviously looking for managers for MONTHS to replace a caretaker manager, only we gave the caretaker manager an 18 month contract and called him permanent so have make a fool out of ourselves releasing statements and distancing ourselves when it's so obvious what is going on.

Hopefully FDB was never top of the list anyway because if we are crossing off managers because they are part of the circus we created then wow it's even more shambles than I originally thought.

It makes little sense for Levy to cross him off the list, don't get worked up by speculation

While it is true that Ellison is one of the people who are actually rumored to be looking to buy Villa that may be on hold. Guy has been trying to buy into pro sports for several years and keeps failing, but now he is also considered one of the front runners to buy the LA Clippers from their now banned for life owner, odds are if he gets the Clippers (for an estimated cool $750mil) he may not run out to drop another chunk of cash (even for as paltry as sum as $200m) on a sports team so quickly....additionally i would honestly figure for Ellison to chase after a team in London (he wants a showpiece) if he was going for a PL team, if Kahn hadn't bought Fulham that would have been the one that i would have expected him to target.

That said, regardless if they get Ellison or another billionaire owner they still won't be pulling people away from London to Birmingham....not unless they up the quality of their hookers and drug users lining the streets.

Oh and another thing that might help...From Saints Web
I went last night (Players Dinner - AB) and had a good chat with les reed and luke shaw. Les said we have no intention on selling like shaw or anyone else. He did say it's gonna be a long summer. But talks with poch have been positive and will step up next week. He also said poch and him have planned pre season and poch has given him a list of players he wants. Luke said everything on the papers is ******** at the moment. He loves it here so fingers crossed

Could be bollocks but it's straw clutching time
