Two things worry me about Pochettino.....

His lack of English .

How the fuck did he lose twice to Tim???.:(

The individual quality of Eriksen and Adebayor had a lot to do with it. On our day we have the better individual players that can be the difference.

The point is, as a team, they played the better football. The one concern is their lapses at the back, but for me that's not down to their system/style of play etc...more individual error and lapses in concentration.

You look at both our goals we scored at WHL to get back into the game, both mistakes by Lovren (IIRC) which shouldn't of happened with Soldado and Chadli applying pressure. Then Sig scores a long ranger from outside the box in the dying seconds.

They should of cruised to victory in that game and gave us, and Sherwood, a complete footballing lesson in the first half.

Ive just been thinking about the time frame actually.

From ITK we've been told there is a sit down between Sherwood and Levy. So thats got to happen before we know if he's sacked or not. Then we've got to start interviewing potential managers, that could easily take us to the 18th I suppose. So its not beyond the realms of possibility we will still not have a manager in, say, 2 weeks time. If anything I suspect thats quite likely.

Eg. Redknapp sacked 13/6/12 AVB appointed 3/7/12 - on this basis it might take quite a bit of time to get someone in.

Yeah I agree, certainly possible.

Just hope it doesn't drag on too long.

I despair at the amount of people we have here that think the passing game is rubish football, or that Spain/Barca are boring to watch.

:(

Give me that any day than the Give ball to A. and he'll do some magic football, that we've seen all too much of down the years.

Used to take pride at the end of the season on MOTD having a Spurs team goal in the running for goal of the season.

Seems the fans now don't want good foootball, just some fast bloke that needs his own ball.

If we didn't have lapses at the back we would be comfortably in the top 4.

Honest question.... player for player do you think our defence is better than Southampton? I'd say we're equal.

Walker..... Vert..... Lovren...... Shaw.

Southampton really have a pretty decent group of players and its not down to Pochettino.
They have 5 or 6 players that would get into our current team and maybe 10 or 12 that would get into our current squad.
I quite like him as a manager but I really think we could do a lot better.

Apologies if already shared but:-

Tottenham will not pursue their interest in Ajax's Frank de Boer paving the way for Mauricio Pochettino to become their new boss #THFC

Former chief football correspondent at two papers.

Not looking good for FDB. Although could just be us cooling down publically ahead of Sherwood's settlement...

A lot of people had exactly the same opinion of Rodgers and Martinez. I like players who are making a step up to play for us and would probably see Pochettino in the same way. On a personal note I'm quite ambivalent about who comes in (as long as Sherwood get the boot).

It seems I have found the next one:

:nailbiting::nailbiting::nailbiting:

If Levy is genuinely going to reject De Boer just because he is an HONEST person, he can fuck off IMO- I would've lost all faith in him.

Right now, the only things I like about a Poch appointment is the fact that we could get Lallana but even that looks unlikely as he is probably going to Liverpool.

I mean come on, Levy, De Boer even fits the Eriksen song.

Serious?...why does he speak Spanish at Press conferences?....

He uses a translator virtually any time he speaks to the press because despite his English being very good he doesn't want to get tripped up or backed into a corner by intentionally confusing questions that the press will try to catch him on.

so he has good English, but it is still a second language and he is concious of the fact that the English press will try and catch him out any time they get a chance, he is being very smart about how he deals with the press.

If Levy decides to go employ Pochettino, he better not bring that bloody translator with him. I can't stand that ****s voice!

But the way they play as a TEAM, is most certainly down to him.

We have a great looking squad of players which isn't commensurate with the way we play as a team. That's the acid test for any manager, to get the most out of what's at your disposal by delivering a side that is collectively greater than the sum of its individual parts.

Its the system/style of play that enhances and brings out the best in the players which delivers above. If the style of play doesn't fit with the players you have, or you can't implement it to good enough effect, it will affect performance levels from the players.

I find the whole thing ironic, in that people are discrediting his achievement because of the players he has to work with. Whilst some are undoubtedly very talented players in their own right, it doesn't mean they have benefited from Pochettino's coaching and playing in a side that has allowed them to flourish further.

There is just no way that some of them would of developed at the same rate had Southampton stuck with Adkins.

Moving back to the case at hand, does anyone else think we should have a de Boer chant on Sunday? Levy might(probably won't) actually listen

I seem to remember them outplaying us for large spells in the first game too. It became an open affair and we were more fortunate/showed more quality when it mattered. Adebayor stepped up and they made defensive errors.

The concerns are not so much that Tim beat him twice, its that his team made a similar amount of mistakes to those we already see at the lane and that they got dragged into an end to end free for all so easily.

However the fact they didn't get spanked anywhere near as badly against the top sides as we did suggests he has some technical prowess.

Yes Southampton have some talented players but Pochettino is a victim of his own success IMO. Nobody was lauding them as an 7-9th placed side before he went there and whilst those players were rated, no one held them in as high esteem as they do now.

I genuinely can't see how someone could be completely sold on FDB but not Pochettino or vice versa. Both are gambles. To be honest I'm not sold completely on all of the options (FDB, Poch, Rafa and to a much lesser extent Martinez), nor do I hate them. I just hope we get lucky with whoever we go for, we are long overdue...

I actually think Poch and the translator are funny. It's become an ongoing joke.... The translator laughs before every comment because he knows Poch understands every word and could easily reply himself. Either way who cares what language he speaks on TV. If he can get his message across to the players and we win matches he can talk double dutch for all i care.
