Indeed. It is possible. Rose is hardly the pariah he's made out to be. He probably is coachable but was getting none of that last season after his return, hence his mediocre displays. Not always the players fault and you could well prove right about Poch being the difference.

On the above post, I am surprised but enjoying the many 'optimistic' ratings for what is, surely evidently, a gag. Can you have an optimistic joke? ...I guess one could be:

Q: Why did Danny Rose cross the road?
A: To get himself a new football club.

Now, THAT's optimistic. ;)

Didn't Tony Parks say something to the contrary?

Just read that Liverpool have signed our young goalkeeper Lawrence Vigoroux too.

Was o loan at Liverpool at the end of the season, so no surprise that he joined.

Spurs youth system currently better than Liverpool's which is why Liverpool's happy to sign our development players - who Inglethorpe will be aware of

Yep. We usually beat them at youth level games.

these kids can't find it easy to perform in the sort of atmosphere that was so evident at the Lane last season.
I agree with the atmosphere bit....it can make make individuals make mistakes etc, but it seemed last season there were countless times when the opposition were counter attacking with Rose well out of position, he would be gently jogging back with almost no sense of urgency.....IMO this is an attitude problem, not a coaching one, or one that will change according to the atmosphere at the Lane.

I think your right his priority should be to defend not just to attack all the time. Think tim was to blame for that.

Coaching and attitude aside, the harsh reality is that, in truth, Rose isn't really good enough. Especially if we're serious about improving and pushing on as a club.
Left back has been a priority area for a while now. We needed one last summer and we still need one now.

We will not be signing any high quality players this summer, of that you can be sure. We blew our wad last summer and many of those players turned out to be very average. Proven quality such as Sanchez, Vidal etc that may be available for transfer are simply out of our league.

How do you know who we will sign? Levy indicated in his statement that we would be targeting quality signings, why would we even bother signing new players if they weren't at least an upgrade on the players we end up moving on.

Also how can you be certain how many of our last seasons signings will turn out average. Its a bit short sighted to form such opinions based on last season at our club. Optimistic I know, but there is every chance that many of our newer players will thrive under the new boss

Also your post attracted a 'like' rating from another member of the forum. I'm non-plussed about anything a fellow supporter could like about your assertion that we won't sign any high quality players in the transfer window and that many of our recent signings are average. Surely every fan wants to make quality signings...Baffling.

10 mill for Davies? Fuck. That. Noise.

Just go in for Rodriguez at 18-20 mill. Would be a much, much better buy, IMO. I'd say 6 is a fair price for Davies. 8 is pushing it. 10 is outrageous.

Swansea are probably thinking the exact same thing about Sig!

Fair point, but depends on the market place for each player.

What are Palace and QPR are prepared to pay for Sigg? Maybe £12m - maybe squeeze a little more in sell ons or for staying up.

Who would be in for Davies and what would they pay?

Realistically, it can't be more than £8m.

Levy will look to keep the deals separate I would think. Let others drive Sigg's price up.

Fair enough, just rarely happens.

This is an argument I have made many times. And I still agree with it.

But I do wonder. With the almost overwhelming increase in player transfer valuations, maybe the time is nearing when they will be worth the complication.

Doubt it will be in time for this swap, but I could see a time when they are actually common.

Am I the only fan that really rates siggy?

I really rate him but the guy has been utterly abused under Dim and AVB. He deserves a chance to play somewhere that will make the most of him. Personally I'd keep him and at the moment even play him over Paulinho

Couldn't agree more that it makes financial sense, especially with FFP. I'm just basing my statement on history. It's time to come join the dark side and do some transfers the Yanks way :)

Perhaps he meant 'agree'. I often think that the two ratings are used interchangeably, and sometimes incorrectly.
