James Pearce (Liverpool Echo) has just said that LFC have missed out on Davies as they were unable to agree a fee with Swansea and as a result Davies is about to sign for Spurs. That will be straight from Ayre's mouth too so very very likely to be the truth.

Sorry if this has already been posted but haven't got the time to check through the whole thread sorry.
You got there before me. But how on earth can you not be able to agree a fee when you've just sold Suarez for £75million. I know Liverpool fans think Ayre is a bit of dickhead but this is very strange indeed...

Davies and Morgan would be very good acquisitions for us. Davies fixed the problem LB position whilst Morgan is the trust MF Poch needs. Would expect Rose and at least one of the CMs to go, maybe two of them (Paulinho please)

No, I'm agreeing with you...was just a bad attempt at irony!

You could be on to something with that though...
I looked at those tweets again. I think JJ is simply suggesting that we are still going for Davies but that it might not happen.

This is the exchange:

BD might not happen now.

@jetsetyid hope we have a plan b.

The original JJetset ‏
@Tegan_Jovanka currently plan D !!

Shouldve added linked: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-fc-close-agreeing-14m-7457256

Be interesting to see if this report is confirmed by Barret (Times), King (Mail), Hunter (Guardian) and less so Maddock (Mirror). If they owt, they'll publish online between 10-10.30pm if you are interested to see what they say. (They're all on Twitter).

I hate to say this but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they got involved to push the price up for us.

Say Liverpool were about to get a player for 8m and we managed to force them to pay 12m it'd be smart business by us.

Indeed I hope we try this with all their targets.

Shhh. Toela probably still thinks the mighty Liverpool are too big a club to have to sell their star player....unlike us poor little minnows.

The possible reasons are endless when its LFC and Ayre. Of top of me head I'd say its coz FSG/Committee set a value for Fee & wage deal and won't go above it under any circumstances. Also, a lot of bad blood between Swans and LFC ever since BR left for all different reasons so could be that also. Maybe they wanted a higher fee off LFC than Spurs or something?

Meanwhile on RAWK:

"Spurs hold Danny Rose in very high regard."

If I had my way...i'd go all out for Schneiderlin, Rodriguez, Schar and Griezmann and stick with the forwards we have.
Tad unrealistic lol, but they would be the players at the top of my list. Get us much as we can through sales and put it towards that lot!

Darn it Pinkie, I'd launch a naffin SC Fundraiser fiesta, if we could even sign three out of those four you mentioned.
Rodriguez, Schaer, and Griezz would address most of our weaknesses ATM.

Brother, that's more like a pipe dream. :)

Swans 100% would prefer Ben to come to Spurs. His agent is pushing towards Liverpool though

People talk about signing a "Modric" type or playmaker etc but these players are incredibly rare

Maybe Liverpool just wouldn't pay what was being asked or maybe there's some mileage for them yet in letting Aspas go to Seville on loan ?

If we are paying 10m maybe we are over paying somewhat and Liverpool didn't want to having already spent a fair few quid.
