Really ?? I dont see Everton or Liverpool scratching around for last minute deals , they got their biz done nice and early...If , as most ITK's say MS was the one identified by Poch as indispensable , then we shud have busted a gut to get him in early on in the window especially as there was such a fire sale going on at Soton...
Neither team has a new manager that needed to asses the squad.

From ITK, it sounds like we put our first offer in for MS once Poch had seen the squad, this was then the negotiating point for Southampton (Which is why we were allowed to negotiate a contract with MS). Then Southampton sold half of their squad for ridiculous fees and were facing a fans backlash, which resulted in them having to sign players before any more could be considered to leave.

We did manage to do our business nice and early for areas where we obviously lacked depth (LB and GK) but with us having an abundance of midfielders, Poch probably wanted to see if we had anyone that could become his new MS

The continued ignorance at the complexities of transfers is frankly, ridiculous on here.

"But Liverpool bought someone dead easy and Everton signed a guy, Why is it that we're shit at this? It's not fair! It's a joke. A disgrace. An abomination! Levy out! Baldini out!"

I'm sure the club is trying. And we know they can be a bit tight, but good. They have to be. Our stadium holds half of Man Utds, is dwarfed by Liverpool's, Newcastle's, City's, Arsenal's. This is a reality. Southampton want nearly 30 million for MS. They can fuck right off!

Until we have a stadium that rivals these clubs we should apparently be spending the same amount of money as, this is our reality.

Everton used the Felliani money from last summer to help pay the deposit on Lukaku. Using Everton as an example of how to do deals is laughable. They hardly buy anyone. Most of their deals are loans.
They're banking on CL now. Signing Lukaku was an essential do or die move. They could be screwed if they dont make CL. And i dont think they will. They have the weakest squad of the top 7 and a weaker squad than last year(deulefeu is alot better than atsu, imo) And all 6 clubs in front of them now have good managers.

Whereas we have a pretty good squad and a good manager. If we are able to somehow finish this window with MM, MS and Depay, I think we'll have a great shot at making CL next season.

Liverpool are much richer than ourselves and had the Suarez money burning a hole in their pocket and did just what we did last year - pay a premium for the players they wanted. There was no point in them haggling - Southampton knew they were quids in and couldn't play the "we can't afford that price" card. Everton bought Lukaku. A player they had on loan. I'm sure things were pretty straight forward there. More than likely things were well underway before the window even opened.

You're being needlessly pedantic.
Liverpool are not much richer than us and they sold Suarez early on in the window and spent the windfall nice and early...compare that to last summer when we dragged out the Bale transfer to the last few days of the window and still paid release clauses/top dollar for most of the 7 incomings who ,apart from Paulinho and Soldado , all arrived in the last days of the window...it would be nice for once to get the incoming sorted early on and give the new manager every chance of hitting the ground running..

This is what 'Trix' followed up with earlier;

''....CB is without doubt the position we are most desperate to get someone in and I'm fairly sure this will happen even if it's not MM. Ask Poch which player he'd most want to see come in though and it is MS. There is, from what I have been told, no back up option to MS as we have plenty of good players there already.

IMO he must see MS as a trully top player to think like this.''

This is obviously both what he has heard and his own opinion and is meant to follow on/clarify his original comment posted further back...'

I would agree with that 100%.

MS if he is affordable or we stick with what we got.

MM if he comes-great-if not we get somebody else.

With the one exception that a team that isn't allowed to conduct transfers bought a player that's not allowed to be involved in anything football related. I guess two negatives do make a positive :D

And played him! If that's not a contravention of his ban, what is?

It is fairly obvious that we were spending the Bale money before we had it. When we talk about the Bale money we "spent", we're talking about the whole summer. As soon as we lumped 20 million at Paulinho and then another 26 at Soldado, it was (in hindsight) quite clear what was happening.

And financially, Liverpool are streaks ahead of us. World wide fanbase absolutely destroys our own. Liverpool, like it or not, are one of the best supported clubs in the world. If Spurs and Liverpool went to the bank to get a loan, Liverpool would walk out with one twice the size of ours.

Depends if Kenny is doing the talking!

But joking apart, spot on

Not really. If they run into trouble they will sell him easy enough assuming he isn't on overly high wages. Lukaku is smart business, much smarter than our business on Soldado for example.

I don't think Everton are dependent on CL at all. They didn't spunk the Fellaini money last year (not all of it anyway) and the wisdom within the game is that signing a striker is something they've been saving up for for a while. They are a phenomenally well-run club generally, considering their relatively meagre resources.

Anyway...I see that the latest round of ITK has triggered the annual wave of gnashing of penises about our transfer strategy. Again I think it's fair to say, "WAIT UNTIL THE FUCKING WINDOW CLOSES!!!!"

Smarter than Soldado? Not really. 13m on Soldado. 28m on Lukaku. Probably on similar wages.

The most recent Deloitte Money League had Liverpool earning £114m in commercial revenue during the last accounting period (compared to our £52.4m), putting them behind only RM, Barca, Man Utd & Bayern (plus the dubiously inflated commercial revenues of PSG & City).

They are streets ahead of us money-wise.

It's all relative. After 12 months of Soldado we would do well to get our money back and the return in performance is poor.

That sounds like a fact to me and has the unmistakable stench of "actual research" about it. Admin, delete it please. It has no place in this thread.

Can someone point me in the direction of some definitive evidence that we only paid £13m for Soldado? As it seems to be now bandied about as a fact.

I think Chelsea see Everton as their B team. Martinez now has to clean Maureen's car twice week as part of the 200 year HP deal for Lukaku.....
