If it's for EUR 8m only I wouldn't be surprised if Roma had dropped some of the adds-on they have lined up for Lamela. It's plausible knowing our chairman.

The only logical explanation I can think of is Dier was bought to replace vlad as well as saving some cash.

8mill Euros won't cover the cost of buying another CB

Personally, I rate Dier more than Chriches.

If we end up with
Kaboul, Vertonghen, Dier, Fazio- I am ok with it.

Musacchio would be better but Fazio is not a bad defender.

Had hoped we would give him another season to prove himself. That performance away against United was simply King'esque and shows what he's capable of.

If it did get us Musacchio, I'd be on board though, but that ship seems to have fucked the fuck off.

So Verts, Kaboul, Dier + One new CB.

I'd be surprised to see us sell both Dawson and Vlad. Would leave us with only 4 CB's again, with Kaboul bound to get injured a few times this season, potentially only 3 CBs.

According to Stobart we also want shot of Kaboul while we can still get some money for him, and he's reluctant to go as well.

I would have thought Kaboul was higher up the firesale list than Vlad, before yesterdays developments. I think if Daws goes, that's it now. We don't have time to be completely re-doing our CB depth.

I actually quite rate Vlad so would be a shame to see him.go. I'm not particularly comfortable with our group of CBs but its not the worse group we've had. What's worrying though is that we might be keeping an aging Dawson and a injury affected Kaboul - whom both aren't looking suitable players for the Poch system - over Vlad, which makes no sense to me.

If we sold Vlad and Dier is the replacement we've made a bit of money again but not really addressed the improvement needed in the first 11 team (Dier has looked great and should play but the kid will make mistakes and needs to be nurtured). Fazio to me isn't a big enough upgrade. We need someone on MMs level to join Vertonghen at the back, with Dier, Dawson/Kaboul and Veljkovic as the backup for me to consider it a positive improvement.

Imo we need 5 CBs in the squad. A CB that can cover RB if needs be would be pretty nice.
