Good news, but to be taken as always with a pinch of salt. I remember the summer when Bale was eventually sold; all the news leading up to the sale said that Bale was staying and no chance of him leaving.
Most believed he was leaving to tell you the truth. Those that didn't were in denial.

Everyone has a price imo. It may be absolutely silly money that takes it - it's just a matter of knowing what that figure is. Maybe Dier's is 50 or 70 or even 150 but there will be a level that's impossible to turn down. If another club is stupid enough to offer it then things can change.

Pure speculation but one goat could be more on the business side and be aware of interest/a bid for Dier, while the other goat is closed to the coaching or players. If a bid has come in from say Utd, but Dier either doesnt want to go/isnt being allow to then that could explain the slight conflict in ITK

Wow, some big statements
Edmonton, rebrab - Dier going nowhere
Greyfox - walker and Dier going nowhere

Can't help but think that'd be a huge statement, keeping all out big players. Times they are a changin.

I actually read grey fox's post as saying Walker was not unhappy (i.e. kicking up a fuss, causing problems) which is different to saying he is staying. It could well be he has said he would like to move for whatever reason, but if it doesn't materialise he won't be causing problems?

I really hope we've learnt from last 2 seasons . We've effectively lost 2 EPL titles from below par Autumns .We need to be ready from the get go .Any signings have to be done by latest end July .

end of August, the dreaded late signings and no preseason... I hoped for once we'd got over this ridiculous notion of getting great late deals only for them to be crap or fall through.
He's saying there's time for stuff to get done not that they are being targeted to be dons at the end.

Mate your being optimistic in theory yes your right get them in early as possible so as to be good to go with everyone fit and understanding their roles.
However this is how we operate and there is no reason to think that this year will be any different to previous, even if the transfer window shut at the start of August we still would be searching on 30th or 31st July.

Wishful thinking to think that we'll get all our business done early, we just don't have the finances for that...furthermore we won't be the only team amongst the top 6 trying to get players in before the window shuts.

We didn't lose two titles because of late transfers though. We lost because key players were exhausted by playing non stop for 18 months.

It's a very persistent notion, but it's not so.

If you want to take "autumn" up to the solstice, as I would, that gives us 16 league matches with a record of 9 wins, 6 draws and 2 losses. That corresponds to 78 points over the course of a full season. "Below par"? You're kidding. Two years ago, we would have celebrated that as a great start.

If you want to follow the peculiar British habit of starting winter on 1 December, then our record last season in our first 13 league matches, up to the end of November, was 6 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss - hardly "below par".

I do like the deadline day fun though for spurs. When it happens! But also nice to get the players a pre season

Below par for winning the EPL .Of course we had a great season .But those 6 draws were the difference .If janssen sissoko nkoudou had been quality signings ready to go ,could it have made the difference, who knows? But at least try and be as best prepared from the start as you can be .If you realistically want to win the EPL you just can't afford to give the likes of city ahead start .

Tbh the window closing sept 1st is kind of irrelevant .You need to take charge of situation and say our window closes Aug 1st .Then you can be totally focused on playing and have no outside distractions .For me the Chelsea game could almost define our season .might sound ridiculous to say being 2nd match ,but it will totally set the tone for Wembley .

That's just simply not true, we haven't lost any PL titles. Maybe if in January we're 10 points clear and failed to cover season ending injuries, that would be true.

We've over performed both in wages and budget for about 6 years now. The last 2 we've over, over (if that's a thing?) performed, thanks to Pochettino and our training (facilities and coaching).

Realistically we shouldn't be challenging for anything, but thanks to our team ethic, good/great players and the best manager/coach we've had in my lifetime, we're over performing. At no point have we been fav's for the league, so we've not lost anything but are aiming for so much more.......
