Don't get this overperforming thing. How is that even a thing. You could rather say we've made some very shrewd buys and got a great youth policy .Have Kane dele eriksen son wanyama etc "overperformed" No that's how good they are ,and will most likely get better. The fact we haven't spent £500m to assemble this team is effectively irrelevant. However we've managed it ,we have a team good enough to win the title. We may never have a group of players like this again ,would be so foolish not to maximise our chances from here in every aspect .

I think, legitimately, getting Barkley for anything less than £40m would be a f************ masterstroke.

Regardless of his contract situ, he is a player who is still young enough to take to Poch crafting, and another key to unlock doors.

If the manager wants another young, creative homegrown lad, who are we to argue?

Poch wanted Sissoko too. Just saying.

I'll support them when they are in the shirt, but until then, I won't want someone just because Poch apparentally does if there are things I see that give me no reason to want the player.

There are very few things in Barkley that make him want him as our player, and none of them combined make me want him for any of the talked about prices.

I want Barkley.

He is exactly the type of player we need. He has the ability to break the game line, the same way Dembele does but further up the pitch. We still need a speedy player who has technique but that player shouldn't be instead of a Ross Barkley

Personally, I would really not want Barkley in our team, especially not for £20+ million...
I agree, but I won't say so on here in case I get quoted next year when he's scored 20 with 20 assists.... D'oh.

Anyway, my bigger issue is why we want him. Where will he play? Maybe he's meant to be cover for Dembele, in which case we're relying on Dier to cover Wanyama, which means he won't be our RCB in those games. Otherwise we don't have real CDM cover. Maybe we do get someone like Veltman and its a moot point. We'll see.

I always get confused is that tree Ben or a different BEN?

I personally think Barkley can improve the squad he also can be improved by pochettino as technically he is very gifted its his decision making. Imagine a happy and improved Barkley fighting with all our CMs under Pochettino. Would be quite nice to have more options on the bench

If it's written like a coded crossword clue, it's Tree Ben

Personally I think it makes sense. Does Barkley improve our squad? Yes. Does he know the premier league? Yes. Does he have a bit to prove? Yes. Is he young enough to be moulded? Yes. These together are reason enough to take a proper look at him. I'm not that bothered about feed etc but if Levy can get a deal I'd say it's less of a risk than some others and it would give us greater strength in depth.

Sorry, don't want to turn this into the Berkeley thread but he has the potential to be the closest thing to Gazza in the current game in England. I'd really like to have him at Spurs.

Our preseason starts in first week of July. As long as we get couple of good players for start of preseason, I am happy to be patient & wait.

I think it's optimistic to expect that but it's not like we are absolutely desperate for immediate surgery is it? I think people need to remember that.

We don't have the gaping holes in the squad that we used to have going into the start of seasons.
