we're playing two unfit (at best not match fit) CM's aainst arguably one of the best CM's in world football, and you wonder why they have struggled and time's run out?

Jesus wept.
You know very well I am not only referring to this game only. They've both struggled to get an impact for a long time now. Be fair.
We are playing Barcelona ffs
... and they haven't even had to get out of first gear to boss that midfield.

We need to spend money and make the team better every season. The best time to do that is when you are getting into the Champions League. It will be so much more difficult if we don't get into the competition at the end of this campaign. ?

Why is Kane playing behind Lamela, Son and Moura?!

Be the focal point Harry!!!

We are throwing lots of shapes at them and to be honest we look more dangerous with pace on the shoulder and Kane dropping but he has to get and hold it and pass it

Not sure how we correct it, when Davies is looking your best defender something's amiss.

Toby and Sanchez have been all over the shop as a pairing, Sanchez doesn't look comfortable at LCB. Trippier is a shocking defender constantly caught ball watching and marking no one. Winks and Wanyama are (understandably) off the pace and surrounded.

And Son and Moura are just running around fast with no real idea.

The CM's need another body in there with them so we can get some control.

But it could be damage limitation...

As much as it pains me to say, time has run out for Winks for me. Yes, he showed great promise and that Bernabeu game was awesome, but he just hasn't progressed since (regressed even). Just a passenger. Wanyama was great in the 2016/17 season in a combo with Dembele, but hasn't been the same since his injury. Are his legs gone?

Massive intent needed in the transfer window(s) to rectify this very obvious Achilles' heel.

You know Winks has been injured right?

The truth is we are never going to look particularly special against these top sides, as we found out against Liverpool.

Our midfield is just not even close to the standard. We just get bullied.

Too right. We could have reinforced the midfield over the summer but our Chairman was too busy counting his money...

I just can't fathom as to how they thought no signings would be a good idea. It literally makes zero sense

That's obviously not what happened. They didn't think it was a good idea to sign nobody they just thought it was better to sign nobody than sign people we didn't really want or sign people for idiotically inflated fees that they're not worth.

The frequency of Lloris fuck ups is becoming alarming. He did that 'running out into no mans land' against City last year...
What the fuck is wrong with him? What a gift.

Gazzaniga deserves a run in the side in my opinion.

He's been making regular f*CK ups for about 2 years now. He did it in the world cup final! Would be one of the first players I'd replace in the crazy alternate universe where we actually attempt to improve in the transfer window.

And then play a wide open 4231.

It's quite unbelievably arrogant and ignorant both at the same time.
@DCSPUR Just giving it to you real, bro.

Poch is not learning.

This is Barca.

Don't care that they got beat recently by a bottom team in the league.

They got REAL quality. This is the CL and they are focused here and haven't even gotten out of 2nd gear.

Been allowed to play at their own pace in wide open acres and do what they want.

It's diabolical.

If Wanyama faces down that shot he can block it just like Inter last time think Davies turned away from it. Fucking disgrace

What else could he have done? Play Dier who has been complete shit this season?

In a word, yes.

I loved seeing us play with Dier starting in midfield but dropping in as a centre back when we had the ball or were under the coach.

Even in rotten form, he would have acted as a physical shield so the centre backs could have worried about Suarez and forward runners, as opposed to worrying about that and the likes of Messi getting the ball in the hole.

Our midfield and central areas have been all over the place, I’d have understood Dier, Skipp, my grandad put as a holding midfielder in there, but to think you can boss Barca with what becomes a 4-2-4 too often is just nuts

Ha. Seriously though, one player from our history you can bring on to change this game who do you pick?

Gascoigne for me.
We need someone like Carrick. I’d hoped that would be winks but he’s a long way off at the moment. Can’t think of a single player is world football now that does what Gazza did
