I think that Hugo costed us once again. What's crucial against Barca is to hold out as long as possible and break them on the counter.

Pressing is another option but must be really intense.

We are doing something little bit of both pressing and sitting back and this is a suicide against Barca. They find spaces so easy..

The starting line was terrible, you couldn’t expect anything with winks and wanyama in midfield they couldn’t do anything against Watford’s second eleven you can’t expect them to do anything against Barca.

Why lamela is playing in the middle and not moura I don’t know, Davis over rose. Shocking

We need to spend money and make the team better every season. The best time to do that is when you are getting into the Champions League. It will be so much more difficult if we don't get into the competition at the end of this campaign. ?
It’s made quite difficult by the fact ENIC don’t want to spend any money!

Problem is not Kane, Lamela, Lucas or Son... It's everyone behind them.

They definitely are a problem, because they're just doing their own thing. Lamela I'll give a pass because at least he is getting in their faces and slowed the ball down a few times, but Kane and Son had a few initial runs and some early bluster but their pressing has been largely token and pretty crap. Moura is then often seen steaming towards a man either of the aforementioned two should be pressing, and all it achieves is Barca playing around us and we then have two/three taken out of the game and putting even more pressure on our cm2 and defence.

What we're doing hasn't been very intelligent, it hasn't been cohesive, it's not been as a unit.

Both of their goals were gift wrapped gifts from lloris and then Sanchez.
We can't help but shoot ourselves this season so far

Regardless I'm enjoying watching us play Barcelona
Absolutely.
I'd rather watch us lose 0-5 to barcalona than win against CarrierBag.

really?? son has been dreadful, done nothing but give the ball away, when he has retained it hes gone backwards with it and i'd be shocked if he'd won one tackle, if somebody told me he was still at the Asian games I wouldn't be shocked because he hasn't done anything since he returned.

Too right. We could have reinforced the midfield over the summer but our Chairman was too busy counting his money...

Have you been down the high road recently? A pretty big chunk of his money is invested in concrete and steel and glass. I do find it hard to complain about the fact we have a new stadium about to open it's doors and, if reports are true, still had a pretty substantial amount available for transfers, but if the players aren't there I don't want us to go spunking it around like we used to. I'd rather he saved it and invested more next window when a player we could actually benefit from and, most of all, actually wants to play for us comes along.

I'm trying my hardest to think objectively and calmly...We have a weakened team out against one of the best teams in the world, the referee has hardly helped us out and it's only 2-0, 1 goal being down to a lack of concentration early on and the other being an incredible strike. We've fought hard, there's no doubting that but ultimately we don't have the quality in midfield to take most games, let alone this one, by the scruff of the neck.

The issue is, the longer this season goes on, the less convinced I am by more and more of our squad. There's question marks over Davies, Sanchez, Winks, Wanyama, Dier, Dembele and to some extent Lloris and Kane. I don't normally apportion blame at Levy's door because on the balance of things we've most certainly gone up a level during ENIC's tenure. However, the need for CM's is so glaringly obvious that a failure to do something about it in January would be straight up negligent. I'm not asking for massive amounts of money to be spent, in fact I don't think it would cost an awful lot to upgrade any of our current CM options. We're crying out for some new faces and some new dynamics, we've played the same way for 3+ years, we're too predictable and we don't have enough genuine quality in the middle of the park to compete with any of our rivals.

I reckon if we stop being scared, and get stuck fucking in, we could at least give them a good game and grab a goal back.

Poch's problem is that he has very little options to change the flow of this game - if he looks to stem the tide in the middle of the park then it means taking off one of Son, Lamela or Moura for Dier, Skipp or Sissoko and none of which is going to make a marked difference in clawing back 2 goals here.

.....and yes, I gather that the boo's are for the ref now.....

Lamela is about the only one pressing with a bit of common sense. The other three, particularly Son and Lucas, are just running to whoever has the ball without a care in the World of blocking the passing avenues. Neither get support the back six very well when the ball is played behind them, forcing the six behind them to be dragged all over the place to plug the holes they are leaving.

Taking nothing away from the strike but did anyone else wonder if the ball had gone out before going to Rakitic? Would have liked to have seen a replay.

That's obviously not what happened. They didn't think it was a good idea to sign nobody they just thought it was better to sign nobody than sign people we didn't really want or sign people for idiotically inflated fees that they're not worth.

That's alright then.

Just scanned back and I'm pretty sure you win the award for hating on Son the hardest :D

What happened, he not return your calls? You really don't like him, huh? I love the fact he's a cheerful guy, he enjoys his football and he tries hard. And if he scores a few then bang on, can't complain really.

It just fucking simple things and having intelligence (lloris) when to come out for a ball, (trippier) positioning and a bit of balls to face shots down. ( Wanyama). Do the fucking simple things right the rest will follow.
