In regards to FB, and from where I'm standing (which albeit is from my armchair) I really hope we have a plan. Because it's not looking good.

Im not a fan of selling Rose at all. Think its a daft move. Davies is not good enough to start for a top 4 side. Sessegnon is not an LB(and thats not even done). Vertonghen is only an emergency LB.

At RB, selling Trippier is already an upgrade, IMO. He's just not good enough. We should buy someone but im okay with Aurier and KWP(if Foyth is moved to RB, i'd be fuming though. He's a CB. Not an RB. We have 2 RB's in the squad. No need for a makeshift).

Have to say I think we’re taking a big risk replacing experienced players such as Toby, Eriksen and Rose and just expecting a seamless transition.

I’m well aware that the Toby and Eriksen situations are not necessarily of our own making, but I just don’t understand the thinking of making more work for ourselves in now trying to replace Rose.

Sess is very raw and I’m not even sure he’s suited to play LB in a back four.

The good feeling of signing Ndombele is being replaced by a feeling that rather then pushing on, we are in fact about to enter another of Spurs’s famous “transitional” seasons.

Hope fans aren’t expecting a whole host of players to just hit the ground running and us challenging the top teams.
Really beginning to look like we need to start thinking of the coming season as a transitional period. I just hope that we can actually get all the business we need done so that the transition can actually take place. It'd be horrible to go into the season with a number of gaps unfilled, then face the prospect of having to blood a number of new players again next season. We've got the money so we need to get the business done.

Does seem a little bizarre that we’d allow Trippier and Rose to leave without anyone coming in - I suppose we have to tryst that as the club seem to have kept their respective potential exits quiet until now, maybe their replacements are being kept equally quiet?!

He’s 29 , good for both parties , probably wants to go back up north , also the right age for spurs to move him on , with spurs getting a good price in the mix . Shame always like him . Good luck to him , good servant , done well for spurs over the years .

Really fucking dumb looking to sell Rose, Davies is solid enough but not as good and Sessegnon (if we get him) a big risk relying on him to hit ground running at left back.

What is Poch playing at??

Bullshit, Davies has started regularly enough for us over the last 4 years when we have been 3,2,3,4 especially in the season Rose was injured for a lot of the time which indecently the season we finished 2 btw

Happy to see Rose leave.
Don't doubt his effort but a fullback in the modern game needs a significantly better end product than Rose provides, just look at the Liverpool fullbacks.
A tad too reckless as well at times as well.

The whole situation worries me.

Only a few seasons ago we had the best back 4 in the league. It got broken up and we haven't seemed to try and rectify that knowing the situations with Rose (homesick, possibly open to moving north etc), Trippier (poor season from the very start of last season), Davies (good but not that good), KWP (does Poch really believe in him) and Aurier (mix of injuries and inconstant form since arrival).

The Rose thing isn't a surprise. I just hope we had a plan all along.

Football manager :cautious:(y)

With Rose now getting closer to 30 and his injuries, think we will look to cash in on him and replace with someone younger and more pace on the wing. Expect to do this at RB also.

I’ve finally worked out the new formation Herc was talking about, its clearly 4 centrebacks Foyth and Davies right and left back :LOL:

True but he certainly reinvigorated him at Spurs.
He wasn't very fondly thought of in the 13/14 season and by the end of the 14/15 season he was becoming a much more effective FB.

I'm not saying it's all down to Poch but he certainly got him playing more effectively.

Team playing well and using a player well makes players look good. The opposite makes players look bad.

Poch doesn't teach players how to kick a ball.

2 years left on his deal - perhaps he doesn't want to sign an extension and Poch feels like this is the time to get some value out of him. We've seen what happens when players get to run their contract down to 1 year, loses a ton of value.

People are biased against Davies because he’s a run of the mill white guy. He’s not worse than rose and certainly more consistent as well as younger. I don’t see the point in selling Danny though, they’re plenty good enough as a pair
C’mon Donald, not sure people are against Davies because he’s white.

Unless Poch has someone other than Sessegnon lined up it’s too drastic for me and maybe should have waited till next summer.

Sessegnon may long-term be the answer but I don’t recall him playing left back much at all with Fulham last season and even with u21s (although Boothroyd in charge so maybe not best example) has was against playing in attacking three behind the centre forward.
