Thats all good and we'll but who are we going to see take that no 3 shirt come the 11th August then?

Why not wait and see.
For the time being the player that the club just gave a new 5 year contract to holds pole position.

I don’t have a problem with Toby, Trips, and Rose being sold. Potentially making 75 million for a group of players about to turn 30 is good business. Because we don’t have the resources to compete with the very top clubs, we should be ruthless in our pursuit to flip older players into younger talent with big potential.

However, especially on the defensive side who we’re linked to is a bit concerning. Sessengnon looks the right profile of a player to bring in and Davies is solid enough to cover him while he gets acclimated to the role. But beyond that, Saliba seems like a 50/50 proposition at best and there’s no RB links. Troubling.

And while it’s stupid to complain about, the absence of our ITKs isn’t soothing the nerves either!

Unless Poch has someone other than Sessegnon lined up it’s too drastic for me and maybe should have waited till next summer.

Sessegnon may long-term be the answer but I don’t recall him playing left back much at all with Fulham last season and even with u21s (although Boothroyd in charge so maybe not best example) has was against playing in attacking three behind the centre forward.

Might be we go back to 3 at the back (Davies left CB if needed as was decent there) and sessegnon is our left winger? Could be the reason for most our full backs being linked away?!

Bullshit, Davies has started regularly enough for us over the last 4 years when we have been 3,2,3,4 especially in the season Rose was injured for a lot of the time which indecently the season we finished 2 btw
Davies was the worst player in the starting 11 at that time. It’s also one thing to be a starter when you’ve got the Belgians and Walker on the other flank plus Dembele and Wanyama in front of you. It’s another in a back 4 with 2 of those other pieces gone and a midfield not likely to be as good defensively.

That would probably be better position for Sessegnon at least initially, although I’d then be interested to see how Poch fits Son and Eriksen / replacement in.

I'm glad someone gets it.

In my cynical eyes - we’re selling people we didn’t necessarily want to now because we haven’t got the windfall we expected to get from Eriksen.

People are biased against Davies because he’s a run of the mill white guy. He’s not worse than rose and certainly more consistent as well as younger. I don’t see the point in selling Danny though, they’re plenty good enough as a pair
WALOB - I love Danny Rose and would have him as our skipper over Hugo. Always plays with passion and desire and is a model pro. I don’t rate Davies at all

Oh and I’m just a run of the mill white guy myself! Not that a persons skin colour is ever a factor in me determining if they are a good footballer or not. Crazy post

Wouldn’t be shocked, only at 35mil or so in the transfer kitty from Dembele and Tripps.

How are people surprised he is about to move on he has been looking to move on the moment he signed that 60K contract he wasn't happy with and than just recently came out about a club that was interested in him last Summer questioning if he wasn't crazy. So he clearly isn't happy here and has been looking to move on, which he has made abundantly clear.

Its a shame he is leaving, but you could have seen this happening ages ago. Also his health and fitness really hasn't been there the last 3 years where he started in 20(6) last season, 9(1) in 17/18, and 18 in 16/17. That is 47 starts and a total of 54 appearances in 3 season. Very loyal servant and I think this split is beneficial to both parties.

Wish him nothing, but luck.

Normally I don't agree with that notion that buying too many players in one window is a bad idea. If it is done right it can beneficial. Not that I am a fan of changing everything up all the time, but sometimes it is required. However, left-back was an area I felt we were safe in for at least another season, and this along with the Trippier 'news' today does have me a bit worried that we will be able to sufficiently replace everyone who is going bye-bye. Also, I will miss Rose, he served us well for the majority of this decade and was a key member of our transition into the side we are today and everything that has meant. I also felt he was starting to get back into some good, consistent form. But some pain was said to be on the horizon I suppose.

I don’t think there is any evidence of that. We have had ITK that Trippier was always going to be available. Also it’s no secret that Rose nearly left last summer

Surely he should still be training with the team so he is fit if he ends up staying here. Unless we’re a 100% certain he’s off... Hope not, love Danny.

Indeed. Squad needed freshening up, but I don’t think doing it all in one window is going to end well.

But he was clearly first choice last season, and one of our best performers. His ostracisation doesn’t make much sense to me, considering Poch clearly trusts him on the pitch. So for him to be well established as first choice to then be on the scrap heap, makes no sense.

He hasn't succeeded with Trippier or Aurier or even KWP but yeah okay. I remember Rose being good at Sunderland, Poch hasnt turned him into the player he is.

KWP is still at the beginning of his career, by his age Rose had appeared a total of 15 times for us, KWP has appeared six times.
Aurier so far has failed to live up to expectations admittedly, hopefully an injury free run can amend this.
He clearly has succeeded with Trippier. Poor season or not, Trippier arrived for a low fee, and is leaving for a multiple champions league finalist, recent league winner in a huge league, having been a starting right back at the last World Cup.

Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.

Poch didn't make him player of the year at sunderland.

I repeat: Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.

Im not a fan of selling Rose at all. Think its a daft move. Davies is not good enough to start for a top 4 side. Sessegnon is not an LB(and thats not even done). Vertonghen is only an emergency LB.

At RB, selling Trippier is already an upgrade, IMO. He's just not good enough. We should buy someone but im okay with Aurier and KWP(if Foyth is moved to RB, i'd be fuming though. He's a CB. Not an RB. We have 2 RB's in the squad. No need for a makeshift).

While I too am against selling Rose, Davies clearly is good enough to start for a top 4 side because we’ve been a top 4 side for the past 4 seasons, and in the past 3 of those (including by far our two best league performances in terms of points and final position) and in those three seasons he’s started more than half our matches, 16 more than Rose in total, having started the same amount as Rose in 2 of those seasons and 16 more than him in the other.
