We found that out the hard way with Trips. Everybody banging on about “end product” and seeing both of these players have an overall negative impact to our offensive game from Rose & Walker.

Trippier was playing with a injury all season so was not at his best imo

KWP is still at the beginning of his career, by his age Rose had appeared a total of 15 times for us, KWP has appeared six times.
Aurier so far has failed to live up to expectations admittedly, hopefully an injury free run can amend this.
He clearly has succeeded with Trippier. Poor season or not, Trippier arrived for a low fee, and is leaving for a multiple champions league finalist, recent league winner in a huge league, having been a starting right back at the last World Cup.

Rose was fine by Sunderland’s standards (while they were fighting relegation) but the following year he was poor for us, constantly losing the ball high up and then just trotting back, the first signs of him being the player he is now came halfway into Pochettino’s first season.

While I too am against selling Rose, Davies clearly is good enough to start for a top 4 side because we’ve been a top 4 side for the past 4 seasons, and in the past 3 of those (including by far our two best league performances in terms of points and final position) and in those three seasons he’s started more than half our matches, 16 more than Rose in total, having started the same amount as Rose in 2 of those seasons and 16 more than him in the other.

He wasn't poor. He challenged benny and dislodged him. Fans didn't like him because of his tweet but he played well when called on.

Having read the Wallace article it seems like this is an exceptional situation, and seemingly one that is mutual.

The club isn't offering him a new deal so are allowing him to try and secure himself a move. If that doesn't happen for him he comes back into the fold as he's still on good terms with Poch.

I think it's a good plan for Danny, he deserves a chance to have a fresh start and hopefully for him make a bit of money.

If he goes I hope we replace him. I see Sessegnon as a long term replacement but also a versatile squad player when he first comes in.

Firpo, Digne and Tierney would be great targets. Chilwell would be ideal but surely too expensive.

So poch has decided we move to a 3 in midfield and play with no dm but a new 22yo from a foreign league, but whilst doing that at the same time he decides to sell 3 of our back 4 who are all experienced internationals, 2 out of the 3 were probably our best players last year.

He then decides to replace those 3 players with a 20 year old centre back and put him out of position and two 18 year olds?

Brave indeed

Tweet? I just disliked the fact that he felt he was good enough to stroll through matches. I don’t remember the tweet.

He didn’t dislodge Benny, AVB hated Benny, who he’d only played 15 times the previous season while Rose was on loan anyway and then never again.

I could be wrong, as Rose was only 24 when Pochettino got his hands of him, but I believe that if not for Pochettino Rose at best ends up a mid to lower table player, never plays for England, and has half the career he has had. That’s not because I think Rose isn’t good, he is, he’s very good and I want to keep him, it’s because I think Pochettino is a top class coach who knew how to develop him.

I think people seem to not be considering the fact that Rose wants to leave. Not that we're ostracising him, or pushing him out. Maybe he's had a good chat with Poch, and wants to go. Therefore, he's staying home while the others travel because Poch is actually doing him a favour and doesn't want to stand in his way?

I think we some might be getting ahead of themselves here with the panic. Most on here felt we needed to overhaul both full back positions (almost everyone when it came to RB) and this may well happen.

You also have to consider Rose's injury record and the fact he's keen on a move too.

Toby leaving is unfortunate but we do have a well settled Sanchez as a direct replacement in this situation. This is not a knee jerk situation.

Liverpool won the CL and came extremely close to winning the PL with a defence that for all intents and purposes was put together 18 months ago. Van Dijk joined in January and the two full backs weren't first choice at the start of that season. In addition to that they changed the goalkeeper.

Having Poch as the constant can help overcome these things, especially if we replace with real quality.

Surely that’s self explanatory.

For clarity, I think Pochettino coached Rose to make the best of his strengths, improve mental aspects of his game such as concentration, decision making and minimise the impact of his deficiencies.

That's the hope/worry, isn't it?

I think many would have argued taking Trippier out of the side for long spells of last season might have been an improvement! (Although I do thank him and wish him luck in Spain)

Sanchez - I personally don't think we could have done much better there. Highly rated young CB that was at the time a club record.

Danny is a cracking player and a real fighter but has had some serious injury issues and still has some flaws. I'd happily see him stay but there seems to be a few decent LBs on the market this summer.

A bit like southgate did with trippier at the world cup?

Poch gets the team playing well, when they do each individual looks good.

When ramos was our manager, the team was playing shit. The players looked shit. Redknapp and a year later they look fantastic. Did redknapp develop them?

Bullshit, Davies has started regularly enough for us over the last 4 years when we have been 3,2,3,4 especially in the season Rose was injured for a lot of the time which indecently the season we finished 2 btw

Plus Davies was carrying an injury last season. When he was fit he was good.

That article sounds weird. We’ll sell him if we can, if nobody wants him we are fine with him staying.

That just sounds strange.
We won’t offer him a new contract at his age and injury history but because he’s been a good player for a long time we’ll do right by him and sell him to someone if they’ll pay him more.

Getting rid of Trippier and Rose for 50m would be good business but two HG players leaving is a problem.

I suppose Vorm offsets one but still, English players are expensive.
