That looks like a squad we were hoping to put together about 10 years ago.
I don't think it was ever that bad

Chris Smalling being loaned to Roma seems a little odd. Good on him for trying something new though.
If Utd lose him, Sanchez and Darmian, they will be left quite light on senior players.
Yeah I like it, I think more English players should try La Liga, Serie A etc.
Weird to sell him when his replacement (Tierney) isn't fit yet and might not be for a while. That means they only have Kolasinac on that flank for the time being.Wasnt Monreal starting for Arsenal this season? Hes just signed for Sociedad
Think Tierney is back training now so might be fit for their first game after the Internationals. Might be a bit of a weakness on that side tomorrow with Luiz at LCB, maybe Poch will play Son on the right to get at them.Weird to sell him when his replacement (Tierney) isn't fit yet and might not be for a while. Arsenal fan I play football with is one of those ridiculously biased fans.
Last week he was talking up their defence and Montreal. He will likely change his view on Monreal but not their team.

I think this is a slightly tired generalisation now. Most talented English players won't want to play outside of the prem, because it's one of the biggest leagues. How many of the main Italian players play abroad? Or Spanish? Or German? Not many, because their domestic leagues aren't shit enough to be desperate to leave.
Especially as they gave him a new contract in the last 12 months as well. Just bad planning at that club.
They gave him and Jones new contracts in the summer. Sometimes that means player stays, sometimes its purely seeking more fee value if they sell.
Win/win for player and club moneywise.
We do it for most of our loans.
You don't see how a player with years on his contract will bring in a higher fee than one in his final year?I don't see the fee value if they sell bit. To the club interested in buying they will not be worrying about what the players contract with his present club is. All they will be concerned with is how little they can get the player for.
Its pretty simple, a player with a year on their contract can turn around and say, well if youre going to ask for that much, I will wait a year and go for free, so accept less now or i leave for freeI don't see the fee value if they sell bit. First Monreal, now Mkhitaryan. Who needs depth, anyway.
