Mourinho has been in the job for a matter of weeks, still hasn't had a full week with his players, needs instant results because of the situation were are in.

Yet still people were expecting us to turn up to Molineux against this excellent side Nuno has slowly built and wipe the floor with them playing like Barca.

That maybe, but the goals were not because if counter attacking football and the times we were about to counter we didn't make the most of it. Jose got lucky today, but sometimes it's better to be lucky than good and I've lost count of the times we've been on the receiving end of these results.
I don't know how luck fits into it. There weren't many random factors that led to us winning. People took their shots well, sure, but that's not luck, it's ability. Vertonghen had a free header, ok that's not luck its bad defending. Luck is a factor in football but not as much as people seem to think.

Haven't seen the game, but I suspect our problem stem from have Sissoko & Dier as a 2 in front of the back 4.

I thought they did ok considering how well Wolves moved the ball. It was actually our front 4 who were sloppy in transition and gave the ball away so many times cheaply. Dier is still slow but I thought he did ok today.

It was the usual: too easy to play behind our fullbacks (cannot really blame Jan against Traore though) and unable to properly clear balls and lack of composure all over the pitch. Sanchez being terrible on the ball again and pathetically poor passing and ball control by a lot of the players. We looked good parts of the first half, where we actually collectively pressed them effectively at times - was nice to see.

Lots of work to do and we really need to upgrade our CM, I actually think it's more pressing than upgrading our fullbacks.

They were much, much slicker on the ball than we were and had the lions share of possession. On the whole they played really well but were missing the final ball. They had tons of crosses and half chances but I can't think of a single clear cut opportunity.
thanks mate that is really good to know, sounds like a pretty typical jose away performance, nice :)

I think we got lucky that wolves weren't better in the final 3rd, there was a lot of last ditch defending, when players are throwing themselves in front of the ball it can go anywhere and we were lucky the ball bounced our way.

United must be kicking themselves watching what Jose is doing here whilst his replacement fumbles along. ?

That's true. I think most of it was down to their wastefulness, but we had some good bits of defensive play too. There was some awful defending for us as well. The amount of times Aurier and SAnchez got done on basic one-twos was way too high I would have been very disappointed if we got into as many good positions as them and didn't score more.

Our two goals were great individual goals too.
That's still part of the problem, though. Wolves we're carving us open as a team, every one of them knowing what they were supposed to be doing, on and off the ball. That's down to the coaching team, we never had that under Poch, and we still don't have it under Jose, (although it's early days and there are good signs). We can't rely on great individual goals to rescue us every time.

Isn't a draw a better result considering we're now only 6 points back of City? Would rather look up than down...

No, want City to win. I’d rather chase Chelsea down and over take them whilst having no one chasing us. At the moment there’s 4-5 teams chasing 4th place... the quicker teams fall away the better.

We defended very well. Fullbacks were exposed sure, but we defended as a team.

Dier needs to get better on the ball, but both here and against Burnley, he has effectively snuffed out chances. Most importantly in cutting out long balls and counters by winning vital headers and covering well for the defence. Maybe we can improve on him for sure. But people are focusing on what he doesn't do compared to what he does do.
