Its still early days, but I do think it will all end in tantrums and tears, probably sooner than we think.
Agreed but a big name manager, and he is one of the biggest, just might help in attracting big name signings. Wasn't that the point of building the new stadium? To bring success.

The way levy operates isn't going to change the same messing about will continue and then Jose will get frustrated like all the others.
Maybe Jose can make him see that getting players in early and paying the price for that brings the success that we all crave.

Levy is a clever man then surely he would have worked that out years before.
Well obviously he's not that clever. In this business you get your signings in early an get players settled. Year after year we're still waiting to see what dregs are left over when the other teams have got their deals done.

Come on Shelfy of course it makes sense.
Wait till later on and he might save 10/15/20% on the fee.
Bear in mind we not talking about signing players just for the upcoming season alone, most are now 4/5 year deals...if you can save 20% by waiting it out then it makes perfect sense to wait a month or 2.
Then you add in the fact that getting them in early doesn't guarantee players settling in any quicker...Ndombele being a prime example.

Problem is we as fans either don't know, or care about the financial implications.
It's a damn sight more complex than early signings = success.

Really? United, City, Chelsea, all get the deals done on the players they want and all have been successful. OK they have the cash but they get the targets they want. The one time we had the opportunity to do what they had done we screwed it up.

We now have a manager who knows how to win trophies, when and who to buy if we miss this opportunity to draw on his experience we might as well gone and got Howe or Moyes (I win things)

Didn't we get all 3 targets we set out to buy at beginning of the summer window?

In terms of football its been much more like Sherwood/Redknapp. Focus on fast attack and just outgunning the multitude of lesser PL teams due to individual talent, very little control of proceedings, wide open games to suit fast transitions, and so wide open defensively, not a great work rate when we lose the ball, etc etc etc. And on the whole results on paper being better than the performances being convincing.

Agree with this, good observation and it won't change until our midfield improves or we buy new players.

Mate I get why he does it but just seems odd that he is happy to start a season with a squad under prepared like we have seen many times before, we often start a season looking ropey losing games because no time to work with shape, formations etc.

It'll be interesting to see how Mourinho handles Levy, with Poch I don't see that bringing players in a month or so sooner would make that much difference considering he barely played them for 6 months as they got up to speed with his fitness demands.

Jose Mourinho admits Tottenham's attacking players must be "very frustrated" by how the team are conceding goals.

Spurs were held to a 2-2 Premier League draw by promoted side Norwich on Saturday in what was an error-strewn defensive performance.

Since Mourinho's arrival in November, Spurs have kept just one clean sheet in eight Premier League matches - and while they have scored 18 goals - they have conceded 12.

"The problem is the way we concede goals," Mourinho explained. "We went to Manchester United and the first goal is a bad one to concede.

"We react, we equalise but then we concede a ridiculous goal. That is the problem. We have to improve. We concede too many goals and it is very frustrating.

"If I was one of my attacking players, I would be very frustrated that behind we are not able to stop it."

Despite his team's defensive concerns, Mourinho was full of praise for how his team "never gives up", and was keen to single out the "fantastic" spirit in the dressing room.

I was referring to when we sold Bale and got pick n mix.

This year wasn't much better we got a crocked defender who plays up front, a midfielder who hardly plays and one who plays if he feels like it.

Three seasons ago this was a squad that was on the cuspp of greatness but due to poor support of the manager it went downhill. We can't let the opportunity wiit Jose to let it happen again.
