We have everything in place to be successful (stadium, training ground) I think it’s another rebuild but one where we are actually going to win things fairly regularly in about 3-5 years.

The question is do we have Jose overseeing that rebuild or do we get someone else in to oversee that, someone who has a vision and is innovative and up with the times?

IMO we need much more modern and innovative manager than Jose.

We had that and sacked him in favor of Jose lol

As much as I liked Poch, but in all honest his tactical knowledge and in-game management were too limited to take us any further. And there's no point to look backwards, we need to look forward.

You what? As much as people roll out the "we were bad under Poch too" line, we also played some of the best football I've seen us play in my lifetime. His subs were suspect at times I'll give you that but lack of tactical knowledge? Do me a favour.

Ideally we’d have a prime Poch for 75% of the games then prime Jose when we play the big 4 or big cup matches.

It’s really tricky to foresee what happens over the next season or two. I think that DL will put his trust in Jose for now but it’s a results business and he will want to see at least a sign of progress over the next few months. Looking at it from the other side, if results don’t improve, will Jose want to risk his reputation by failing? If he doesn’t see progress would it be a case of him walking? I know that there are extenuating circumstances like the budget at Spurs being way more modest than anywhere he’s been except I guess Porto but it would be kind of sad if we’re the only club that he’s failed at.

His main shortcomings were a stubborn unwillingness to show flexibility in his tactics but on the other hand, many will see it as an admirable quality that he has such a belief in his philosophy so who’s to say that he’s wrong? His in game management in terms of subs was a head scratcher though. I guess that it came down to the same point about an unerring belief in his initial game plan.

I would have liked to see what he could do if we had actually bought the players he wanted.

Everyone talking about "we need a rebuild"...This is nothing new! We ARE having a rebuild. Poch said it, JM said it.

That's what we're doing now. As much as I hated watching that turgid stuff JM has started with the problem areas. Defence!

No one can argue our defence has not looked more solid. Hopefully, as things progress so will other parts of our game
I will argue that our defence has not looked more solid at all. We let in 3 goals against sheffield utd! We have managed to look solid against teams that are poor and dont press. Lets see how solid we look on Sunday against the scum! We all know that we need some players, but can anybody honestly say that jose is getting the best from the players we have? I mean seriously? If they had no manager at all they would be playing better football!

A win on Sunday and loads of people complaining will stop.

If you have been around spurs Internet forums long enough you will know that the anti levy sentiment is always there in the background waiting to bubble over. Same as whatever manager we have. I always think for example if mourinho wasn't good enough after Sheffield utd he still isnt upto it by scraping a 1-0 at home against a stale everton side.

But thats football fans. Were all too emotional and invest far too much into what now if were honest is just a corporation that takes advantage of our love for whatever personal things the club means to us.

A sport built on tribalism is always going to have people emotionally invested. So whilst levy can be the villan today , if he buys a couple of fancy players in the summer most will forget.
I'll complain if we win as it is one more game that Jose will be in charge for! What will winning actually mean? That we put in another turgid performance to move above a very average arsenal team? Then what? More turgid football. No thanks.

The question for years (or until we win something) will be, should we have just stayed with Poch through this season and given him a chance to turn around IF Jose ends up finishing outside of Europa spots? What would the difference really have been to stay with him? We wouldn't have gotten relegated one way or the other and if we are finishing mid table, perhaps we should have stuck with him through the rough time - which had gotten very, very bad too.

The question with Poch was always if he was the right man for the rebuild.

Much as I loved Poch he was inexperienced and it appeared that once things went bad he didn't know how to turn things around.

Time will tell if Jose can turn us around but I think it was probably the right time for Poch to go.

I think Levy was starting to get too much blame and pushed it all on the manager and sacked him. Was always going to happen when we are the only team to not spend a penny in the transfer window despite obviously needing a few players and then our season started badly. Maybe not the case but seemed that way to me. Poch had a professional attitude and kept towing the company line but be honest, he was not given the players he wanted each season and it is a testament to his ability that we did as well as we did. If he ends up at a club that has money and will spend, it will be very interesting to see how far he takes them.

didn't seem like he had complete backing to turn around - Poch by all accounts wanting to clear out our defense and rebuild it, never saw it through. He knew Eriksen would be leaving so we signed Ndombele and Lo Celso and then Bergwijn in winter in order to diversify our attack. The thing that always strikes me with us, no matter who the manager is - is that we are such f**kers in the transfer market on selling players that we really cant shift the players that the manager wants out because our valuations are rarely met. If Rose, Toby, Jan, Eriksen (although we sold him too late) and some others were sold a year or more ago, we could be talking about the turn around happening under Poch's watch.

Poch had taken us as far as he could. Removing him was the right decision.

I think the second part of this is right. He had to go at the end as much for himself as for us. It had turned toxic and although I'd have given him to the end of the season out of loyalty, he wasn't going to fix it.

I'd dispute the first part as it suggests Poch had reached the limit of his ability with us. He got dealt the shittiest of hands by Levy. A hand that most managers would have struggled with and the combination of that and Poch's lousy playing of that hand turned the situation toxic. I can see how we ended up in the position we did - everyone was trying to do the right thing and working to an agenda for the betterment of the club but, sadly, Levy completely sacrificed the short term for the medium to long term and football managers can't survive without some focus on the short term. Poch became collateral damage. How far and when we rise again, and it will happen, will dictate if Levy's approach was correct or if he fucked our one shot at real glory.

I totally agree that our transfer policy is inconsistent at best.

But if reports from numerous itk and well connected sources on here are correct that Poch had lost the dressing room then it was time for him to go.

Not saying for a second that I put the full blame onto Poch though.

very true - fair point. if he did indeed lose the room, then there was no turning back.
