Yeah the general assessment of him seems to be that he's poor defensively, and his delivery is poor, but good at most stuff in between. Which sounds suspiciously similar to Serge.
Imo, he’s got excellent off the ball movement just like Serge. If that assessment is also true then he’s basically a taller and stronger Aurier without the rash challenges so I still think he’s an upgrade.

I think we are good to go after this signing, the other areas that need addressing are'nt starters so Levy can afford to take more time to look and seek better deals.
Need another striker before the season starts then your comment is true

Yeah I just read that Sky Sports article on Doherty which is pretty illuminating. He effectively plays as a forward most of the time. Although that is in Wolves's wing back system so to play him in a 4 would negate that freedom to an extent, however much Ben Davies is tucking in.

I have to say, so far this window has been superb business for us. Hojbjerg for about £3million net, Hart for free and now Doherty for around £15 million (which if we sell Aurier for around the same amount will be for basically nothing). Two high priority positions sorted with what seem to be Jose's top picks for each position and relatively quickly.

It really does feel like Levy and Jose are working really well together and we are getting the job done smartly, cheaply and efficiently. Loving it.

He’s not a fancy name so few people are moaning. He’s an absolute bargain. Is he a stop gap? Probably. But he’s a top PL proven full back who improves our team absolute no brainer

He’s back with some more whoppers:

“we have Neves. Erm...we also have RUBEN Neves etc etc” ?

I actually can’t believe what I’m reading on that forum. It’s some of the most blinkered, deluded bullshit ever. Although Sky, Telegraph, Independent, Guardian, The Athletic and Fab Romano are reporting this, Wolves fans still chalk this one down as “click bait nonsense”

Another poster also said Wolves must be selling for so cheap because Doherty has an underlying injury that they want to palm off on us. I can only assume Wolves never conduct medicals on their players before signing them.

Another rightly pointed out that they will not be able to sign anyone nearly as good as Doherty for the reported fee of £15m. They’re more than welcome to pay us £5m on top of giving us Doherty in exchange for 1 Serge Aurier?

I think they are just in disbelief of the fee. He's a regular starter for them and they'll be losing him for circa £15m. If someone said Davies was off to Chelsea for £10m we would probably be calling bullshit and scratching our heads too.

Whilst I don't like getting involved in 'my club is bigger than yours' arguments I am struggling to see what they have done in the last two seasons to suggest Spurs isn't a step up from Wolves. It's not like they've just qualified for the CL or anything. They finished below us in the league (despite us having a car crash of a season) and don't even have European football. I accept us being a rival to them as they have European football ambitions but to say it's not a step up is so blinkered it's unreal. We were in a CL Final a year ago.

My favourite comment was 'they can only offer more money' as if that isn't the primary motivator for most career moves.

Edit: After reading that forum I must admit they seem a pretty level headed bunch overall, one of the better ones I've seen tbh. You always get a few whoppers.

Times like this we could do with the ITK thread being open.

Stop getting it locked you insufferable fucking helmets.
If there's been ITK, let me know and i'll think about putting myself through the frustration of that thread again. If the deal is made official, again, please tag me to let me know.

I've seen a few post on here that he is an Arsenal fan and quite frankly I don't give a shit.

The guy is a professional and will give his all every single game. His primary club will be the one he is playing for, that's all that matters.

Sissoko is also an Arsenal fan, and he gives it everything for us. Who he supports is irrelevant

Trix had some ITK about Kim-Min Jae an hour or so ago and JJ confirmed that the Doherty stuff was legit last night but I suppose neither of those are particularly surprising news.
