He hasn’t featured during preseason, he’s therefore either ill or injured. Likewise there’s no sign of Winks or Tanganga.
Like I said, I’m not disagreeing with that. I’m just don’t think it’s quite worth the angst on display,

What angst? People are entitled to be disappointed he's injured. The literal purpose of this thread is to discuss him. Live and let live.

and it’s not just Lo Celso who’s missing. We’ve no Winks and in effect no Ndombele either. That leaves us with Hojbjerg who’s yet to play a competitive match for us and Sissoko who can’t pass for toffee. The season starts next weekend and we’ve 2 fit central midfielders, as per above 1s new and the other we’re actively trying to sell.

We’re also likely going to have to play Aurier as Doherty has yet to feature for us. We’re also actively trying to sell Aurier.

Up top we’ve still only got one striker and judging by his performance for England he’s seriously unfit.

I don't see why Doherty can't play, isn't he back tomorrow? Other than CM the team picks itself though really. The only question mark for me would be Ndombele or Sissoko in CM, chances are Jose will go for the latter.

Lloris
Doherty -- Alderweireld -- Dier -- Davies
Hojbjerg --- Ndombele/Sissoko
Lucas ---- Dele ---- Son
Kane

I really hope Stevie is in that lineup ASAP. As far as I’m concerned, he’s already proven to be better/more efficient than Lucas, even though Lucas provides more of the hard defensive work Jose likes.

Yeah I agree mostly I was just trying to think about it from Mourinho's perspective

I wasn’t. Though if you want to clutch at something, the thinly veiled dig you made implying that our only way of getting the ball into attacking positions is Toby Alderweireld long balls is demonstrably incorrect. There, that’s my point, I’m done with this chat unless you fancy PMing me. I won’t continue in the thread.

Im not clutching, just following the rules- play the point not the man. PM you for what?

My point was not thinly veiled. Even though we secured a lot of points after the restart, we had very few shots on target and were very predictable. Without TN or GLC, we will be less of a threat. Although we all hope Doherty will provide better delivery from the right.

You seem to have forgotten all about Harvey White, will stick my neck out and say he will play next week against Everton and if not will certainly be on the bench, can see him getting a lot more games this season than people are expecting and will eventually replace Winks !

You would expect the 1st XI to be fit and raring to go but ours is an absolute car crash.

Lloris - fit
Gazzaniga - N/A
Hart - N/A
Doherty - yet to play for us in any capacity
Foyth - unfit and no preseason
Aurier - meh
Davies - fit
Rose - MIA
Alderweireld - fit
Dier - fit
Sanchez - unfit
Tanganga - MIA
Hojbjerg - fit
Winks - MIA
Sissoko - meh
Lo Celso - injured
Fernandes - meh
Ndombele - grossly unfit and no preseason
Alli - fit but hasn’t played well for 2 years
Lamela - meh
Bergwijn- fit
Moura - fit but offensively ineffective
Sessegnon - fit
Kane - unfit and no preseason

A draw against Everton is looking like a good result as we’ve no central midfield and our one and only recognised striker is unfit and had no preseason.

So ignoring all of your Meh's/NA's it's five unfit/injured, two of which hardly played last season. Kane played 80 minutes for England the other day, so while he's not at peak fitness he's probably OK to start. It doesn't really seem that bad does it?

I think it’s funny that you think a young kid is gonna get a lot of matches this season when he’s only played a couple friendlies. Especially when he has Lo Celso, Winks, Sissoko, NDombele, Holjberg, and even Alli ahead of him for that position.

In order; injured, injured, unfit, big shoulders and Alli in the midfield really. White could certainly get some minutes.

He has been playing as a holding mid in the games i have seen him play, none of the players you have listed are natural holding mids.

Hojbjerg is and Winks and Sissoko (although not natural holding mids) will play ahead of him in that position

It doesn’t matter. They are established first team players. Mourinho is more likely to play any of them ahead Harvey White. In the same way he chose to play Alli/Moura ahead of Parrott even though they are not natural strikers.
